What's Wagner bring?
Basically he's a younger/cheaper player similar to Theis
Shoots 31% vs. 34% from 3, but hits 81% of his FTs so you hope that with reps he grows into maybe a 35-37% shooter?
Similar rebounder, maybe a bit better passer, gets a few more steals, but doesn't block shots, draws more fouls.

Basically they are clearing playing time for TL, moving Theis because they don't think they can re-sign him at a number they like, and getting a look at a young player similar to Theis, who they might re-sign in the summer.

Woj: Golden State has traded Marqueese Chriss to the Spurs, source tells ESPN.
Chriss goes with cash to Spurs, which saves Warriors on luxury tax for an injured player.

Woj: Boston is trading center Daniel Theis to Chicago, sources tell ESPN.
I am ok with losing Theis. He strikes me as a smart player who does well under CBS and then disappears after being traded.

Of course depends on what we get back....

What kind of return is that? KO has an expiring contract, AB is a journeyman, and Miami’s pick is going to be worse than Houston’s.
Yeah, it's clear Oladipo had no value.

I always thought they should have just kept Lavert.

Future year, MIA doesn't have a pick this year, it is going to either HOU or OKC already depending on whether HOU has to give OKC their own pick.

around the way
Perk not caring about the luxury tax is not news.

I really dislike everything about Wagner's game, but if Theis was gone anyway, we need a reset, and maybe can still sort out a buyout guy somehow. TL moves up the depth chart officially.

The Hornets acquiring Wanamaker makes me feel even more confident in my prediction that Theis is signing with them this offseason.

The fact that the C's could land EF for (2) 2nds is a decent indication of his free agency cost. They probably feel they can resign him this summer for similar money
good point. i may be in denial but i'm starting to buy in that ainge pulled out. i guess
Deadline has passed, no? How are teams "working deals".
don't know if it's true but someone on twitter posted that if the calls between teams have to be initiated before 3, the trade is good.i always thought it had to be sent to the league office

Have to be in line with the league office. So basically the deal has to be essentially agreed, but you can finesse it up until you get to the front of the line.

With Teague out, does this mean management has faith Langford is healthy? More PT for Pritchard? On days Kemba sits, we, literally, don't have a backup point guard.

It's about time Danny shipped Theis out to rid Boston of bad officiating juju. I'd like to see the analytics of foul discrepancy pre and post-trade after the season is done.

We just added Fournier who will play some PG, and push Marcus to PG in a lot of situations.

Smart and PP will handle PG duties when Kemba has to sit. You can also have Tatum, Jaylen, or Fournier bring the ball up in a pinch as well.

Anybody here want LaMarcus Aldridge?

EDIT: Woj says he's most likely going to Miami:
Once LaMarcus Aldridge completes a buyout with the Spurs, the Miami Heat are expected to emerge as a frontrunner to sign him, sources tell ESPN. Aldridge plans to talk with several teams before finalizing a decision.

It's probably Brooklyn's 2022 #1, which is going to be 28-30, for Miami's, which will be better.

I don't know if it means management is high on Langford, but it does mean if Langford comes back and looks good, there will be playing time for him. PP probably gets about the same amount of PT, but he's already getting close to 20 as is.

I don't want to be too much of a homer, but I agree people are sleeping a bit on Langford. He was legitimately useful in the playoffs last year before the wrist situation got too bad, and it's hard to see how he doesn't end up as a strongly plus defender.

Thanks for all the responses, none snarky, to my question! This can't be the internet.

Looks from the responses we may get Smart to the 6th man roll. I think that's his best fit.

Thanks, Port Cellar. Cheers to a winning record to close the season.

I'm pretty freaking satisfied with Fournier. I like his fit on this team more than I liked Gordon's. Hopefully his presence gets the Jays and Marcus to stop forcing so much.

Absolutely. My big concern with Romeo right now is his COVID situation. I can understand why he wasn't cleared for this road trip, but if he's not available next week, that'll be worrisome.

I think you are going to get jumped on by people "well, actually"ing about how much better Hayward is (he is), but I agree with you when salary and 3-point volume are taken into account.

One thing I was thinking about....

HOU obviously totally screwed up with Oladipo... but amusingly they also hurt a bunch of contenders as well as themselves. I mean, look at the deals today... even if they wanted no part of LeVert, they definitely would have gotten offers for him. What does he get you... 75% of the Gordon offer, maybe more?

I mean, I bet Danny would have given up a 1st for him.
