Great game. Freshman Arkansas HS POY. I’m not wearing my glasses but the shoes and cut make his look like young Mike.

I have watched zero minutes of basketball outside of the ACC. Arkansas has one made three-pointer. Do they usually play this way?

What an effort by ORU. Got a great shot at the buzzer, just didn't go down. How the hell was that team 4th in their conference this year?

Syracuse is playing a guy (Edwards) who averages 1.7 PPG.
Edwards, once Boeheim started to use him, has been a total difference-maker for SU this year. I'm frustrated with this team on offense right now - can't really get much of anything going, but after being down 17-5, I'll take being down 23-20 at this point. At least they got back in the game and have given themselves a chance.

Well, a lousy final stretch has nearly put this game out of reach the way SU is playing. 40 points in a half. Buddy has been horrible. Not good.

Oral Roberts would take that last shot/situation 99 times out of a 100. Great job by Mills to draw that up. Good game

Not much you can do when you're 6 deep, have only 1 guy that can grab a board, and only 3 guys that can score inside the arc. When they put their deep bench in when they had 2 guys with 4 fouls, that was the difference.

That Baylor-Arky game is going to be all about the ath-ah-leets. Oh my.

SU in huge huge trouble. They can't get the offense on track, and now the D is starting to leak like a sieve. This could get really ugly here unless Syracuse rights the ship, like, now.

That was a horrendous performance by Syracuse, mostly on the offensive end. Defensively they were fine (holding Houston to 62 points on 38% shooting). But my god they shot 27% and only made 14 shots all game long. Wow that was bad. And it wasn't like every shot was contested. Even when they got open looks, they threw up bricks.

Hopefully we can get some offense and aesthetics in the second half of the Sweet 16 games

4 games yesterday. 2 of them went WAY under. 1 went pretty easily under.(double digits) And 1 went under by a few points.

All 8 teams shot 22% from 3 for the entire day. It seemed like every team was playing unbelievably tenacious defense. Which means tough shots and missed shots in the 2nd half because teams were tired.

Someone on a podcast this week said the talent in this years tournament is one of the worst overall levels in the last 30 years and the style of play is atrocious in college basketball now.

I think it's a tough year to judge. And I watched the first three games yesterday(not the Houston one) and the defense all the teams were playing was absolutely tenacious. Every shot contested, feet always moving, every man picked up every time. After a while, everyone gets tired and not only are the shots always contested, but if you're tired the shots fall short.

That is why every game went under yesterday, in my opinion. Not because of the lack of talent but because all of the teams were throwing everything they had on the defensive end.

That's a popular take but I don't buy it.

The talent IMO has never been better and more evenly distributed. However, the quality of play has been negatively impacted (and has been for a decade+) by the fact that the best players almost never stay for more than two or three years, so the teams aren't operating with a ton of seasoned leadership. Also, it's a lot easier for coaches to emphasize team defense and the result is more games that are grinds and less offensive fluidity in general.

Agreed. There have been some good, free flowing games (Oregon-Iowa, LSU-Michigan as examples) but too many coaches try to keep it close then hit a couple threes.

This Gonzaga game has started well and I think the rest of the games today should be good.

Creightons get back first D is an interesting concept to slow Gonzaga down. Its keeping Kispert and Suggs from getting it going but its also allowing Nembhard and Ayayi to play more to their game.

I'd like to see the replay on that flop warning because that sure looked like an elbow to the chest
