#4 would like a word with you.

Although he has his own display case in Toronto, so not perfectly analogous.
Heck, he has his own *museum* in Parry Sound. Highly recommended! (museum and Parry Sound/North, both)

With his tackle of Marshawn and his strip-sack of Ryan, HT authored signature plays in two of the most stunning SBs of all time. That elevates him.

Forgive the diversion, but is the "Butler was trash in 2017" narrative a case of revisionist history? Granted, he was better to my untrained eye in 2015 and 2016, but he still played like 97% of the snaps in 2017. Overall the D had a lot of issues in the first quarter of the season before righting the ship. Anyone have his stats for 2017 vs. 2016 and 2015 - things like completion %, rating, yards / target, etc.?
From PFF, which I know some people have issues with for their player rankings, but this has at least some of those stats. I couldn't find those stats for 15 and 16, I'm sure they're behind a paywall somewhere.

"While many of course would have liked to see him play in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, 2017 was a tough year for Butler. Among all cornerbacks, he regressed slightly, finishing with a 79.2 overall grade, ranking 51st being ranking fifth in 2016 and 18th in 2015. He also gave up six touchdowns in his coverage, tying for third-most at the position, while also yielding the 11th-most yards at 698 and ranking 108th in yards after the catch at 233. "

Thanks. He definitely wasn't very good.

Is there a ‘Hall of Individual Plays Fame’?
Like, certain individual plays, or even sequences or whatever, should be commemorated, both at Foxboro and at the NFL hall.
like, sure, Butler isn’t even close to a HoF guy. But that one play...And not just super-bowl plays, but in-season stuff too.
I’m not really into HoF stuff, but I’d be more likely to go to The Hall of Superlative Plays while other folks are looking at retired jersey numbers or what have you.
If you haven't been to the pats hall of fame, they basically have what you're talking about. The actual players commemorated is a very small area compared to the rest of the museum which covers all different plays games teams events etc, along with some fun interactive stuff. So while they don't technically induct plays like the Butler catch that game has a separate exhibit as do all the other super bowl wins. It's a great visit.

I agree Hightower is a slam dunk. Cornerstone of three SB defenses and two signature SB plays without either of which there might be two fewer Lombardis in the Hall.

He may not be the slam-dunk that Hightower is, but the idea that Wes Welker isn't a slam-dunk for the Patriots HOF is crazy to me. I know, I know, the "drop" (ahem) and zero Super Bowls but the guy was OUT OF THIS WORLD productive. He belongs, in my view, undeniably.

He's #1 all-time for the franchise in receptions, #3 in receiving yards, #8 in TDs, #1 in yards per game, #1 in receptions per game, and has the longest reception in team history , to boot (99 yards).

He's more of a slam-dunk than Hightower, not the other way around.

No, he isn’t, because it’s a fan vote and the fans hold the drop and zero titles against him.
