Odegaard with a fantastic strike. If the wall had jumped, it would have blocked that...

Jota boots it out of the stadium from 5 feet out. This is a frustrating game for LFC

listening to TalkSport commentary in the car, and the commentator called it the worse miss ever
edit: wow, that looks like a 7-0-3 formation for Liverpool
and looks like Ramsdale has knocked out Leno as the starter

Could be but for whatever reason he hasn’t learned end product yet and if not by now will he ever?
He’s consistently able to make tiny, precise, deft touches at speed and make great defenders blush in the process. That makes me think it’s gotta be mental, but he’s not great with crossing or long balls, either. Poor touch, bad placement.

Some incredibly promising talent has struggled with finishing. Sterling is a perfect example. Everybody assumed he’d figure it out. While he’s certainly improved, would anybody classify him in the top 50 in the EPL for finishing?

Finishing imo is not about touch but its own skill. You either have it or do not and I think it may be one of the hardest things to develop. What makes Adama so difficult to defend, like you said, is his combination of deft touch with speed and power but the finish is just an entirely different skill he lacks.

A great example for me is David Silva. He had even the ability to perfectly weight passes but just did not have the natural ability to put the ball in the net.

And then you have freaks like Pirlo and Inesta that can put the ball anywhere with any weight, including the goal.

Man thats a tough decision but ultimately I think its correct. Armstrong's trailing leg is already falling down before Walker tangles with him.

I’m okay with not awarding these. He’s on the way down before contact. Let’s give that a yellow and really stamp it out entirely.

The game has changed so much but I was always taught that you challenge from the wrong side of an attacker you’re essentially responsible for what happens next. Armstrong probably is on the way down but I just can’t get comfortable with players getting away with such dumb challenges

More worryingly for CIty should be how awful they look. Does Stones or Laporte really make this much of a difference?
The spine just isn’t there to quickly progress the ball without one of those and Rodri. Look very leggy though. City had 4 or 5 good chances 1st half but not having a striker continues to haunt

Looking like a long week and probably a long season for City. Amazingly making the same mistake after each title win of having a really bad transfer window and not pushing on to leave other teams behind. Spent all summer chasing Kane, and a goal scorer was needed, but you can’t commit to that transfer unless you know you can complete it. Spent no time on Lb which has been a problem since Pep got here and CDM where Fernandinho just hasn’t got the legs. Now injuries in all the positions and while City have 7 or 8 wingers to rotate through there’s no depth at some really critical positions

we're just waiting for Pep to go 18 straight matches without a loss, while the rest of the stumbles over themselves...you'll be fine...

or maybe the supporters club will force Pep out as manager...*shrug*

I don’t think there’s another Pep renewal happening either way which is why it’s such a shame not to press the advantage while he is here.

Im not concerned long term as City has quietly overturned the roster and is a very young squad. But the next week has City playing Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG and the team just looked completely shattered facing Soton. I’m not sure you can count on 20 match runs every season. City have started slowly under Pep before and of course can chase down a pack. Just prepared for a pretty lousy week and probably a need to chase from behind

Hard to believe these are the same sides from the first half.
That Villa crowd was electrified by a brilliant goal, Villa got on the front foot, and Everton fell apart.

Same thing Everton did at home last week to Burnley.

That’s a thin side that Rafa ran out today and I hate the three at the back, never works.

Honestly, probably smart if you're the home fans at a Ligue 1 match that you aren't a clear favorite in to just storm the field, free 2 points

Edit- NM see they reversed that original Nice/Marseille decision, so less smart.

Hammers-United is excellent so far. West Ham look feisty on the counter and their crowd actually sound like a proper fan base today.

And Ronaldo ties it quickly. That one would have been called back on VAR last season.
