And Ronaldo ties it quickly. That one would have been called back on VAR last season.
It looked like his arm extended beyond the defender, but my understanding is that the arm can't be offsides since it's not legal to play the ball off the arm, and the rest of his body was behind or even with the defender. Could have seen it wrong, though.

Admire what WH have done as a fan of a similarly situated club. Kudos to Moyes. Shrewd acquisitions. Would love to have Vlasic back Everton poached him when we beat his Croatian club on Europa- but that was the window where we went crazy with spending snd he never got a shot ahead of the bigger names.

Brighton bossing it for the moment. Expect that LC will get at least one, and there’s been some suspect defending on both ends. Could be an exciting half.

MU v WHU has been quite end to end and open football. A good watch feels like it could legitimately go either way just a matter of who finishes one of these counters

McTominay took a blast off the side of the head. Tried to get up, lumped back down. But they let him play on. Christ, get serious about head trauma.

Another bad weekend for the concussion protocol. McTominay must be off. Yesterday they let McGinn play on until he had to take himself off.

Teams need to be docked points for this. It’s the only way they’ll take it seriously.

One of the problems right now is that as per usual players are gaming the system a bit to get whistles to give relief. It all happened quite fast so I have no idea if he legitimately was injured or not but the mandatory whistle imo should come with some type of mandatory time off the pitch for more complete concussion tests which would have the happy byproduct of making sure players only stay down for real injuries but of course may make the very bad outcome of forcing players to try to play through injuries

With that change, Brighton is going to be defending an onslaught for 20 minutes. Let’s see how that goes.

They really have to have independent pitch side medical evaluators for this. Leaving it up to the team is … problematic.

I have no love for the NFL’s handling of the issue, but the blue tent does have its virtues. As @SocrManiac points out, this can’t be left to the teams and players. A stronger independent monitor needs to be onsite.

Incredible free kick for LC wasted. They are rampant right now, Brighton content to defend. Last 5 minutes are gonna be wild.

2 potential Leicester goals ruled out for a player in an offside position (not the scorer - both for blocking the keeper’s view).

Has that penalty sub thing ever worked? Seems like it always backfires but maybe that's just selective memory.

It’s just too hard to take a penalty cold. Way too many end up taking really “safe” penalties and get them saved because you don’t have a feel for the strike yet to do anything that really buries a corner

That attempt being exhibit A .. tepid, perfect height for the keeper. The only way Noble scores is if the keeper goes the wrong way.

That Brighton first penalty looks awful to me. Vestergaard seems like he was grabbed while jumping? Watched this morning on mute for unimportant reasons but did they give any consideration to foul in the first place?

Probably a just result as I think the last Ronaldon dive wasn’t a dive and should have been a penalty
After 5 match weeks it’s looking like VAR is finally being used appropriately ... That is “clear and obvious” is being applied. If the ref had given the PEN on the field I don’t think it would have been overturned.

And Ronaldo has taken little time in re-establishing his reputation as a diver.

Kepa will be an adventure in goal, Mendy had been so solid for them and I could see a goal or two sneaking past him that Mendy might have saved.

Amazing how much better this Spurs side looks with multiple players in it who can pass the ball forward.

Don’t agree at all with this. I’d really want them using the pitch side monitors for incidents like this. Right now it feels like a return to a lot of arbitrary applications of rules that just drives everyone insane

This week/end has been so cruel to my teams. Union with the rough start against Slavia Prague, punished by the refs. Then yesterday where Palace deserved better than 3-0 to Liverpool. And now Guerreiro just puts in a shot with a 3% goal probability at Signal Iduna, after Ayowniyi was a shoulder offside from opening with a goal in the first 45 seconds of the game.

Woe is me haha.
