Seeing this thread resurface, I forgot that I had started it and I'm appalled that I tagged George Best as English. I know he's not.

And I'm pained that I might have given the impression that I'm a Unionist. I am not.

So I completely fucked this up.

Back to your regularly scheduled celebrity shenanigans.

Who will it be then, the Wagatha Queen?
Rebekah, d’you reckon, or maybe Coleen?
Who’ll be the winner, and who will have lost?
What of a friendship now covered in frost?
The doors of the courtroom are shut with a clank,
And the lawyers they laugh all the way to the bank.

Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial – extremely funny, but a missed opportunity? - The Athletic

But what exactly are we laughing at? Are we laughing at the hubris of Vardy, a working-class woman who reached too far and paid a heavy price? Are we laughing at the incongruity of two working-class women battling each other in the highest of courts over something as banal as telling tales?
Oh no. Are we just laughing at working-class women?
