Marsh hasn't hit much, but he's a massive upgrade defensively compared to the parade of DH's the Phillies currently play in the OF. Good get for them.

Matt Boyd to Seattle, per MLBN. No other details yet
That would have been news four years ago when he had the illusion of being a good pitcher on a bad team. The Tigers really blew an opportunity by trading him. Now the Giants will even get slightly more despite him never throwing a pitch in an official game for them.

Also Lopez had a terrible July and BAL seems to have figured out how to make endless relievers, so probably a good move both ways. The return seems light but I'm sure it's a case where prospect lists haven't caught up to reality on those low-level guys.
He had two rough outings in the very beginning of July. In the last four weeks his ERA is .90, his WHIP is .90, and he has 6 saves and no blown saves. He has a 12/2 K/BB ratio over 10 innings.

Eovaldi or Hill to Philly... for maybe one of their 4 closers?

The Phillies have now added David Robertson and Brandon Marsh, but continue to shop for starting pitchers. Sources say they've talked to the Red Sox about Nathan Eovaldi and Rich Hill, and to the Giants about Carlos Rodon. And still in conversation with the Angels on Syndergaard
They've also DFA'd Odubel Herrera and Familia. Two additions by subtraction. The additions of Robertson and Marsh are a bonus.

Edit: Phrasing

Weird Yankee trade. I know Cards needed a starter but Bader is decent
He's been on the IL with plantar fasciitis and had a setback recently on a AAA rehab start. When healthy, he's probably the best defensive CF in the league, but his plate discipline is awful.

Dylan Carlson has played a phenomenal CF while Bader has been out. I love this deal for St. Louis.

The Phillies prospect going to the Angels along with Mickey Moniak, for Syndergaard, is 21-year-old outfielder Jadiel Sanchez, sources tell @TheAthleticMLB
I'm a bit surprised the Phillies gave up on him. He was the #1 overall pick in 2016 and had a real shot at earning the CF job this year until he fractured a hand in spring training. He's still young enough to turn it around but he's been underwhelming at the big league level so far. Marsh seems like what they were expecting out of Moniak this year.

Guess he gets vaxxed lol.
Being considered fully vaxxed is at least a two week process, right? Assuming he gets the one-shot variety, anyway. So if he's vaxxed and good to join the Jays in Toronto when they return from their current road trip (8/11), he should have already gotten the shot. Which kinda begs the question of why he couldn't be bothered to do it for the Royals series up there.

Either way, I guess we'll find out next Friday.

Love this because I can troll all the Cubs fans in my life. I can’t believe they sent Contreras out to say goodbye to the fans and then keep him.

Happ has another year of control. I’m sure they’ll shop him this off-season, but his value will be that much lower.

I’m not sure why they didn’t move Contreras. Even the Sox’ return for Vasquez is likely better than the comp pick the Cubs will get from a qualifying offer.
