Anybody suggesting the Pats are going to tank to pick a QB has clearly not been paying attention for the last 20 years
Fully agree with this, if they get a top 5 pick they are going for the best lineman available on either side of the ball. BB is much more likely to go the pre-Peyton Broncos/pre-TB Bucs/pre-Stafford Rams route of building a team that’s got everything but the QB than he is to play QB draft roulette.

They won’t tank but if Hoyer is the QB I’m not sure it matters all that much. Mac was shit today but there’s no question he’s far and away the best option for the team at QB and they are not winning many games without him.

Usually they cancel all media appearances if they are done for the season.
Probably different with a QB.
The one thing that’s particularly frustrating is I don’t think you know enough to know whether he’s a long term solution at QB-which I think you would know if he played most of the season

Pretty sure the deal is for the Patriots starting quarterback. Not necessarily Mac Jones.
I see, so they could say Hoyer's the new starter and have him do it? I'd imagine the station would respond "hard pass" and just fill the time some other way.

I think when Brady was suspended Garrapolo & Brisett we’re on. Then Brady came back.

Does it normally take this long to get some type of injury update?
IIRC Lance was hurt in the first quarter quarter and the general nature of the injury was reported by halftime. I don’t think it was even floated as an option that he would talk to the media on Monday.

Well aside from the injury of course, I think that I saw some good things among all of the bad. This won't be a popular take, and 3 INT is never good, but 22/32 for 321 (10.0 Y/A) is growth for a kid who spent most of last year checking down. He's obviously going to have to learn that defenders are leaving where he expects them to be and undercutting where he wants to throw. It's a process, and he'll have to put the time into better awareness post-snap of where the defense is.

I agree, I’d rather have him be aggressive like this and fail than play passively like he has at times. At least you could see some of the tools he had today, and I’d keep letting him go like this every week.

I don’t think it’s a dirty play by Campbell. I think it’s a touch late, but it’s a fluke thing where the ankle was caught at the wrong angle as they were going down. It sucks, but there was no twisting motion going for the leg or anything like that. Horrible to see, but there’s no intent to injure there.

Moderate to severe high ankle sprain probably best case scenario as I said above.

Assuming MRI doesn’t uncover anything beyond that, probably looking at 6-8 weeks.

Can google “tightrope surgery” to findout a way to make it potentially a little shorter.

I’ve already been wrong on this twice (not an Achilles or a fracture) but it didn’t look like the usual mechanism for a high ankle sprain - that’s usually a planted foot where the leg gets rotated around it. This looked more like a ”regular” ankle sprain, so more like 2-3 weeks instead of 6-8

I just watched the reply of Mac's injury again. I see his left foot/ankle rotated markedly outward {to Mac's left} with the heavy force of 300+ pounds landing on his leg.

I agree with the more dire prognoses.

Reminded me, in the moment, of Krumrie’s ugly takedown, actually.

Ball was long gone there - totally merciless by Campbell. I know that’s not the judgment they’re paid to exercise, but still.

Is this one of those situations that you have to wait for the swelling to go down some to do a more accurate examination? IOW even the docs themselves my not know for another day or so?

The whole “waiting for the swelling to go down” to get a diagnosis is, quite honestly, kinda bullshit… its a nice excuse for not gettIng an MRI immediately, but that’s really more of a scheduling thing than a medical thing

I think what you're really trying to say is that Kraft is cheap for not buying the team an MRI machine.

If he was screaming like that over a minor ankle sprain after the hobbling he pulled a couple weeks ago which came up negative…

I’m more concerned about that than what we saw in terms of performance on the field.

Ahhhhhh, now we're concerned about Mac's pain tolerance. Yikes.

As far as the imaging goes, definitely not.

Every NFL player with a practice or game injury that clearly requires MRI gets it done the night of the injury or at the latest the next morning.
