I thought Frost would do better than he did “hero comes home after doing great job at UCF“ stuff. I say this to point out my predictions arent great. Given that, I think this is about the best the Huskers could do.

Just my own personal hunch here, that Auburn is going big game hunting and will pull Dabo away from Clemson.
Dabo stays at Clemson and he goes down as a historic legacy guy. He really going to give that up for slightly more money?

Rhule's biggest issues are that he's not a "Nebraska guy" and that he's not Mickey Joseph, who is, and galvanized the fan base around him despite only winning three games after Frost got canned.

These are the same problems Bill Callahan and Mike Riley faced and it's a large mountain to overcome. The "tradition" groups often have a sympathetic ear in the local media, too.

Pellini too.
Pelini was an adopted "Nebraska guy" since he was Frank Solich's defensive coordinator in 2003 and coached the Alamo Bowl after Frank was fired.

He also was hired the second time around by Tom Osborne which is the ultimate trump card.

Nebraska killed itself fleeing Texas. When they did that it killed its pipeline into the state. Rhule can’t get that back, no one can.

Programs like Nebraska that have been irrelevant for 20 years need to ditch that “Nebraska Guy” mindset. Rhule is a good college coach and an even better recruiter. The boosters and alum that want someone who can run the triple option are part of the reason Nebraska has been wandering the desert.

Rhule is a home run hire. The Big 10 west is so shitty that he should be able to turn them around quickly with his recruiting abilities.

Most of my first 20 years were in Mass but most of the last 20 have been in Lincoln or Omaha. There are a number of “run the ball” people for sure, but for the most part people here just want a winner again.

Their biggest problem is that 5 star quarterbacks won’t go play on the Plains. They are in recruiting no man’s land. Rhule should help.

Freeze is perfect for Auburn, has had success in the SEC West and beat Saban twice. Also sleezy enough to compete with the big boys and will do whatever the power brokers at Auburn want.

Getting hired at Auburn is the best financial move a college coach can make, coach for a years and then collect millions to move on.

Have lived in Omaha since 2018 and can second this take. Nebraska football is everything here--I don't even know what's second in the state; it might be college women's volleyball, if not Creighton men's basketball--and the fans just want the feeling of winning again.

Stanford should hire Deion.

I kid. That’s an impossible job now No idea who’s want it.
Why is it a worse job now than when Shaw arrived? Not like a rich school like Stanford can't pay the going rate (via NIL) for players. Like Harvard/Yale/Princeton, they can have any level of team they want.

I’d imagine Stanford’s focus and importance on football is quite a bit less now than it was when Shaw came to campus. I might be wrong, but that’s the impression I get from the university. It’s not wrong, if so.
