This poor defense... such awful field position. Has to be one of the best units this year. And that's down several of their best players.
They both are bad, and Mac is better (less bad?) in practice apparently.
This isn't a Coach Bill problem. It's a GM Bill problem.
Zappe has a shelf life like all back up QBs. I do wonder what the interception rate is when targeting Parker. He wears coverage.
It was still reactionary last season. Zappe was performing great, and then Mac came back from injury early and has been complete rubbish ever since.
except you can’t separate the two. He isn’t giving up final say unless you outright dump him. To me the coaching hasn’t been good enough, scouting, drafting and player development to want to keep Bill around.

I'm not making some larger point about Bill and his role on the entire team moving forward.
I'm saying that blaming Bill the coach for the QB situation, how he has handled Mac vs Zappe, etc. is missing the point.
We don't have any good QBs, that's the problem. And that's a player selection issue, not a coaching issue.
This has to be the worst offensive performance in the first 10 minutes of any game I have ever watched
Zappe's QBR in 2022 was 36.4. He is a backup QB. He wasn't "performing great"
