I saw the last 5 minutes. Someone on SC made a shot and yelled right in the face of a LSU player...then when Johnson committed the intentional foul, #2 did the same thing to Johnson, at which point Johnson shoved her slightly (slightly as compared to Cardoso's pile drive a few seconds later).

If they were allowing that stuff all game, no wonder something bad happened.

Yeah if I were Johnson I probably would've pushed too but the running shove to the floor from Cardoso was crossing a line. Johnson's brother jumping over the scorer's tape was both amusing and worrying. I'm glad it more like he was just trying to protect his sister than go after a SC player as revenge.

Watching it again he did put his hands on Cardoso. A no no to be sure.

If not for the quickness of security in stopping the idiots who were following him, he could have incited a riot, so good.

Paige had an epic tourney and yet is totally overshadowed for obvious reasons. Not complaining as it makes sense why this would be.

Yep. She's had an incredible, POY-worthy, season, but is playing almost totally in the shadows this year, given what Clark has done, plus South Carolina's undefeated season. It's like Paige is a complete afterthought.

All she did in the BE tourney was put up:

- 29 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals
- 27 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, 3 steals
- 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 blocks, 3 steals

- 83 points (on 30-58 shooting, 12-24 from three), 25 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 blocks, 9 steals

She's been absolutely unbelievable.

Texas and Madison Booker destroyed Iowa State to win the Big 12. Texas getting scoreboard across the Big 12 in all the sports is fun.

Madison is top 5 in the game imo. And a freshman.

Latest ESPN bracketology is out. They have UConn as a 3 seed in the same region where Stanford is 1 and LSU is 2. That would be a very difficult draw for this edition of the Huskies, given their lack of big depth. Big teams like South Carolina, LSU, and Stanford are just the worst matchups for them at this point. If this is how the bracket shakes out, UConn will be fortunate to even reach a regional final, never mind get to the Final Four, never mind win it. Though if somehow they and Iowa get to the Final Four, it would be Bueckers v. Clark, which has happened before (Bueckers/UConn won 3 years ago), but the teams are very different now. That would still be very fun to watch.

Ohio State and UConn are lined up for a Sweet 16 rematch – after the Buckeyes knock off Celeste Taylor's old Duke teammates.

Iowa, UCLA and LSU in the same regional is going to be a lot of fun.

UConn would have to get by Ohio State and USC. I know this isn’t a premier edition of UConn but I think that’s doable for them. Of course they have to play well and can’t afford any injury or foul trouble. But they can do this.

That Texas/Stanford/NC State region is brutal.

If you can't root for Larry Vickers, his players, and Norfolk State as an institution, then you are not human. They've had good fight v. Stanford but are severely outsized and overmatched. Great story, however.

Kansas erases a 10-point Michigan lead in the final 6 minutes of regulation and we're headed for overtime.

Kim Mulkey is already threatening legal action about a Washington Post article by Kent Baab that hasn’t even come out yet. This is gonna be good.
That pc was something. The article must be devastating. My best guess is they show how she used power and intimidation to prevent players from “being gay.”

In other news, there was a ref in the Chattanooga/NC State game that was replaced at half-time because it was discovered by the NCAA (maybe tipped off by the NC State AD Dept.) during the first half that that ref had attended Chattanooga as a grad student and received an MA from there. How this mistake happened is weird to me. In high school, you are not allowed to ref a game of a school that you attended, your child attends, or that you worked for and you must submit all this relevant information before the season begins. I can only imagine that at the D1 collegiate level this requirement is even starker and more enforced. It's possible the scheduler messed up but how does the ref, herself, not alert her supervisor upon being assigned to the game?

What state/area does that much checking at the high school level? Not in Mass., at least there are no specific rules.

We're supposed to keep the politics out of these other forums even if Mulkey is an a-hole.
Everywhere but V&N. How do people not by now understand that this is a serious policy that comes down from the tippy-top that has consequences from said tippy-top that are non-negotiable? It is the one area that is absolutely not up for discussion, even behind the scenes. Exercise care, folks.

I turned on the Ohio State & Duke game a little late and went over 20 minutes before I saw Duke make a field goal – over 10 minutes of game time. Ohio State is an excellent defensive team, but this is the worst shooting team I've seen all year so far. They air-balled a free throw and have had multiple uncontested threes not hit the rim.

What an absolute embarrassing performance by Ohio State. They reverted to their bad habits of the first half of the season and just failed to execute or have a plan for half the game. Duke plays good defense but is still thoroughly mediocre. I can't believe they played this poorly in the final home game for Sheldon and the other seniors.

Opens the door for UConn.

#11 seed Middle Tennessee State – the only underdog to win in the 1st round – has a late 1st half lead on LSU's home court.

I think the MT coach should have told his players to keep fouling and foul out so they couldn't finish the game. Make a statement about the horrible ref job. And ABC should have brought Lisa Mattingly in to comment. Not just have her show up to chime in when there's an intentional foul. LSU and their coach are the most unlikable team in the country and it's not even close. And this game exposes everything that's wrong with how WCBB is officiated. 37 free throws to 9 based on constant flopping.

It even looked like an LSU broadcast. Sure, there's game action, but let's spend the next 30 seconds on a tight closeup of the MTSU girl crying after she just got set up for her 5th foul instead.

The Land of Fist Pumps
41 for Iriafen. Big time game.

Emily Ryan and Addy Brown were also outstanding for the Cyclones.

Pac 12 will likely have 5, maybe 6 Sweet 16 teams. What a sendoff.

That was the best game I've seen all year in WCBB. And 2 teams that prove that a physical game can have sportsmanship unlike some other teams which shall remain nameless (LOL)

I'm completely on the UCLA bandwagon because I'd love to see them take down both LSU and Iowa, but none of the three played their best basketball the past couple of days.

I don't know if it is due to more parity in the women's game (which is good!), but besides South Carolina this is much closer to the competitiveness of the men's tournament. You used to have to wait until the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight for the 1-4 seeds to even break a sweat.

30 points, 9-15 fg, 1-6 3ptfg, 11-13 ft, 1 reb, 3 ast, 2 steals, 1 blk
31 points, 11-15 fg, 2-4 3ptfg, 7-7 ft, 5 reb, 0 ast, 0 steals, 2 blk
17 points, 7-13 fg, 1-6 3ptfg, 2-2 ft, 2 reb, 2 ast, 0 steals, 1 blk
29 points, 10-23 fg, 5-10 3ptfg, 4-6 ft, 9 reb, 6 ast, 3 steals, 3 blk
27 points, 11-16 fg, 3-5 3ptfg, 2-4 ft, 12 reb, 4 ast, 3 steals, 4 blk
27 points, 9-19 fg, 4-9 3ptfg, 5-5 ft, 4 reb, 3 ast, 3 steals, 5 blk
28 points, 11-19 fg, 2-6 3ptfg, 4-5 ft, 11 reb, 7 ast, 3 steals, 1 blk
32 points, 14-25 fg, 1-4 3ptfg, 3-4 ft, 10 reb, 6 ast, 4 steals, 1 blk

TOT: 245 points, 91-163 fg (55.8%), 21-56 3ptfg (37.5%), 42-50 ft (84.0%), 60 reb, 32 ast, 20 steals, 21 blocks

AVG: 27.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.2 steals, 2.3 blocks, on 55.8% field goals, 37.5% from three, and 84.0% from the line

Nobody is playing better basketball in the women's game right now than Paige Bueckers. Not even Clark, who's been great, but much less efficient than Bueckers.
