The circle jerks all these commissioners must have together while they talk about the bullshit they put fans through.

Not here
I hate when an ump blows a crucial AB.

Also, we're not gonna lose a lot of games 1-0.

At least MLB is actually trying to solve it. (ABS). Cant say the same for the NFL or NBA which has burried its head in the sand believing its officials are perfectly fine
like most sports leagues, they’ll take waaaaaay too long to adjust (eg pitch clock)

In fairness, the player and ump unions make it hard to drive change

Call on pitch #6 was somewhat understandable since the pitch tumbled very late below the zone, but an ump in MLB can't miss pitch #5.

While true. Mlb and the mlbpa wants to make sure the ABS is close to perfect before rolling it out to mlb. ( thus the testing phase in the minors). The nfl “tried” to use replay for pi. And then scrapped it after one year instead of trying to fix the issues. Mlb was literally the last professional league to institute any replay. And they are already more “technologically advanced” than the NHL/NBA/nfl wrt to getting rid of almost all possible “human elements” for officiating gaffes.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Great pitching. Good defense. Meh situational hitting, which is more important against a top pitcher.

Speaking of 50, Bobby Dalbec has nearly a 50% K rate over his last 100ish PAs. Just awful.
Well, we have the same hitting coaches doing the same things with him, as Cora uses him in the same ways. Yay?!?!

Regarding the Casas at bat in the ninth, yes the ump was brutal, especially on strike 2. That said, strike three was more or less in the same location as strike two. It was close enough that all I could hear in my head was what my coaches growing up would say to me if I'd watched it go by: "too close to take with two strikes." Protecting with two strikes is a by-gone skill and a by-gone priority these days.

Good game overall on both sides. Pitching and defense is encouraging. Sox missed their opportunity to get to Kirby early, and with a pitcher like him, you can't miss opportunities.

Can we not have a fuckin night game again?
It's on MLBN tonight, maybe because it's the only game at exactly the start time of 6:40 Pacific.

Edit: Sunday is an afternoon game. Monday and Tuesday at Oakland, 6:40 Pacific, Wednesday at 12:37. Oakland will send some kid(s) out to the mound we never heard of and he will stifle our ass. Sorry for looking so far ahead.
