Clear penalty IMO. Sometimes a foul is so awkward and unexpected the referee won't give it in real time but its just obviously an infraction.

Agreed. But Paul Tierney saw it and described it correctly so VAR assumes it’s not clear or obvious. Or something. That’ll be the justification, anyway, when PMGOL affirms the call.
Guessing City move on from Alvarez next season - I don’t think he’s up to City’s standards - he may not be up to Premier League standards for that matter.

I thought it was a clean tackle at first but that last replay from behind showed he didn’t get the ball - so, agreed it should have been a PEN - the announcer suggested it wasn’t given as the contact was after the Brentford player got the shot off.
Agreed. They seemed to brush it off because the contact happened after he got his shot off, but the slide followed straight through the Brentford man. That's called 100/100 times if it happens in midfield, and very often a yellow.
What does Southgate have against JWP? He’s good enough all around plus being one of the best dead ball artists in the world. Money from the spot, too. He’d be such a useful player in a tournament.

Two VAR overturns in 3 minutes in the Old Firm match, one which gave Rangers a goal and one which took one away from them. So now we get 30 minutes of Old Firm play in which the ref has been totally neutered. This ought to go well.
The BBC radio coverage of this match is brilliant. They do such a great job funneling in the crowd noise.
