No Pedro , No Mirabelli
Yeah, those are the two that stuck out to me. Pretty surprising actually. I guess Pedro could have other commitments since he's Pedro but does Dougie have a house showing or something? How many years of his career are directly due to the fact that he caught Wake?

I have no idea whether this has anything to do with it, but Schilling said that it was Mirabelli who told him about the Wakefields' conditions. I hope Mirabelli doesn't feel guilty about that -- he probably had no clue what Schilling would do.

What?
No Nomar, no Dave Roberts for obvious reasons, no Ellis Burks, sadly. No Alan Embree, who closed the ALCS. And no Abe Alvarez.

And while we remember Wake let’s also memorialize the late Lt. Frank Castillo (1969-2013), who threw 21 pitches for the 2004 team. I don’t think anyone else from that roster has died.

George Herman’s ghost has also died

Please tell me Mariano's pool wasn't involved.
That would be a shocking coincidence.

What exactly could TBS have Pedro doing that's more important than attending this? Talking about some other baseball game? They could give him a cameraman for the whole thing and that could be his contribution for tomorrow.

TBS does a national game every Tuesday. Pedro is part of the studio crew. The only really frustrating part is that the game tomorrow is the late game (Cubs at Padres). He could make his appearance in the pre-game ceremonies and then hop a plane to Atlanta in plenty of time to be on the air at 9:30.

Unless they're doing it from the game site

Pedro has TBS pregame responsibilities thar they won't let him out of. TBS sucks.

So the most notable living guys not there will be

Pedro
Schilling
Embree
Bellhorn
Roberts
Mirabelli
Mueller

Too bad they can’t be there, but I guess that’s kind of the way these things go, right?

An update on timing -
The team is encouraging fans to be in their seats by 1:30 p.m. to enjoy the ceremonies. While the gates to Fenway Park usually open 90 minutes prior to first pitch, they'll open two hours prior to first pitch -- at 12:10 p.m. -- on Opening Day.

Oops, yep, that’s a big one too.

I guess with any event like this, especially if it’s held in season, it’s inevitable that there a bunch of guys that just won’t be able to make it. That’s life. I’m sure we can all identify with similar situations in our life, like a graduation, wedding, etc..

Frankly, give the dual nature of the celebration, the most notable absentee, as addressed earlier, is Mirabelli

Ah yeah. Wonder why? Feel like some of these guys have been pretty reclusive since retirement. Mirabelli is one of them. I guess baseball players can be an odd bunch.

Why do i feel like Mirabelli will arrive via a police escort in order to catch the first pitch?

we have heard explanations for why some former players will not be able to attend. But nothing on Mirabelli
