Gonna need a 2004 Miracle to win this one, and, with recent injuries, to get to 85+ wins this season.

Yeah the problem isn’t shitty range or lack of athleticism. It’s flat out not making the plays that need to be made every time.

A lot of the game thread mojo from the 2004 era would not be allowed two decades later, for various reasons.

Yeah, that too. But I have more faith in the offense settling in than the defense. It was a huge issue last year and it’s looking like one again.
For better or worse, Baltimore has outplayed us so much in every aspect of the game that you could subtract all our shitty defense and we would still have had no chance today.

Letting Winckowski go 65+ pitches to save the bullpen that didn't pitch yesterday seems like a really good way to end up down another relief pitcher.

It would be a fitting tribute to Wake's 2004 ALCS game 3 outing if the Sox can go on to win the next 4 (or 8) games.
