I still don't understand why that's best for him. Is Bronny in college to get a pre-med degree? What is he doing in college besides playing ball , collecting millions in NIL money (last check, he was earning around $10mil) and getting ready to inherit the world.
Trying to improve as a player and embark on a pro career that he actually deserves. Instead of getting a roster spot that everyone in the world knows is only because of daddy.

Just a few things to add to the convo:

-- Bronny actually is very athletic, not sure where any talk of him being "not particularly athletic" is coming from. He's a way above the rim athlete.

-- On the flip side, he is not particularly good or skilled at basketball. He wasn't in high school either.

-- He did apparently have a pretty scary medical situation at the start of the season. The details are still unclear but probably worth remembering when considering his bad freshman season.

-- USC was a dumpster fire for many reasons this year, another reason to maybe give him a slight benefit of the doubt.

Overall, he probably isn't much of an NBA prospect. Too small and not skilled enough. But there are reasons to think the jury is still slightly out.

Lets play out LBJs fantasy.

Can he dictate Bronnys playing time and when he plays? Where's the fun if Bronny is just an end of the bench guy? If Bronny is the 15th guy does he deserve prime time minutes in big games just to give LBJ a unique Father's Day?

If Bronny is NBA ready, I'd think it would be way more fun if they were opponents and watch as LBJ defends Bronny as he tries to posterize his old man.

Of course this could also be a big nothing burger and he could just be doing what every decent underclassman college player should be doing. Go through the pre draft process, talk to teams, practice against good competition, and then make a decision. It's possible he isn't even a decent college player, we probably don't have enough of a sample to tell yet, but I'm not sure why everyone is acting like he's for sure going to be in the draft this year.

Is there any doubt that Lebron is going to live to be 100+? Take it when you can get it Bronny.

And if he doesn't realistically have a pro career anyway?

Again, the reality is that Bronny likely never plays meaningful minutes in the NBA, so he's giving up a shot at an unlikely event for a sure thing that includes a chance to spend a lot of time with his father. Still don't understand any downside, and a ton of upside.

Will Bronny be ridiculed all over the league by other NBA players? I know there's massive respect for Lebron around the league, and if Lebron is on his team, then Bronny will be protected, but I have to think there will be massive Nepo baby ridicule, taunting, and serious shade throwing. It should be relentless. If that's the case, query if Bronny going pro next year is such a great idea.

Looking forward to today's Russillo pod. On Tuesday's life advice, there was an obviously fake email that they didn't pick up on that was from the POV of Bronny having reservations about playing with his dad. I'm guessing they got 300 emails about it.

Heard that. Can't believe they didn't pick up on it.

He's been facing ridicule for a long time, and quite a bit of it recently for basically not being good and yet cashing $6mil per year in NIL checks from places like Nike and Beats. I have a feeling he'll be ok. I also don't think NBA players will be shading a bench warmer, whose father has connections with every brand and everybody else that matters in the association. There have been a lot of NBA children who have been drafted over the years that probably shouldn't have, and none of them came with the benefit of a team being able to add Lebron.

I think these folks view this from a completely different lens than we do. Bronny is making over $100,000/week of his own money right now, he couldn't care less who's throwing shade at him.

Do NBA players shade Thanasis?
Yes, I think they do, but it's not really overt.

I don't really quibble with your answer, but how many of those children took up a roster spot?

Glen Rice Jr., Jerian Grant, a bunch of Barry kids, Patrick Ewing Jr....There's kind of an endless list. There are two current Boston Celtics whose fathers played in the league (granted, both of those C's are quality players), curious if folks can name them both?
