Eduardo Rodriguez out for the season with heart issues due to Covid-19

Eduardo's health is of paramount importance of course, so this is the right move. Likewise, the team should not be making any fast-track moves with Houck, Mata or other prospects that will compromise their long-term development. The 2020 season is already lost.

I will be surprised if the McCourty twins decide to play.

    Covid and MLB

Great piece in The Athletic by Stark and Rosenthal today: https://theathletic.com/1954316/2020/07/26/why-did-the-marlins-play-baseball-on-sunday/ This is just the beginning - the season is doomed IMO.

Rosenthal: Mookie and LAD in agreement: 12/$365

Lost in all the raw emotions and hot takes is the fact that the Red Sox largely went about this the right way in trying to lock up Mookie. As soon as he established himself as a rising star, by all accounts the front office made annual attempts at locking him up early at competitive money...

Let’s predict the 2020 Red Sox record

This is where I'm at. The offense will be there and I think the pitching will be not quite the train wreck that everyone is predicting *if* EdRo bounces back from his Covid. Still out on the playoffs though.

If the season gets to September 1, the Red Sox luxury tax resets

I wasn't commenting on the quality of the Kimbrel trade, just that DD followed his usual M.O. in trading a higher number of prospects than was typically seen in a deal for a closer, even a very good one. Not sure if it was in Alex Speier's book, but I have read speculation that the Sox could...

And four prospects for Craig Kimbrel.

Rosenthal: Mookie and LAD in agreement: 12/$365

I'm happy for Mookie - this could have been a $100 million disaster for him, but he got traded to the right team. I wish he could have stayed a Red Sock for life, but I'm not sure how I'd be feeling right now if he had agreed to that 10/$320 or whatever contract, even if they'd never signed...

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

I also recall reading that the ballpark in Buffalo was designed with the necessary supports already in place in the grandstand to allow a second deck to be built overhead. The group that led the expansion effort was led by the Rich family, who still own the team. In hindsight, it is a shame...

    2020 MiLB Season cancelled

There is no doubt in my mind they are taking advantage of the opportunity.

    2020 MiLB Season cancelled

I agree. I think the fallout is going to make the owners' previous contraction plan look like a dream scenario by the time MiLB is able to resume.

This 100%. It is absolutely worth the money.

Red Sox name 47 players to their player pool

The second one for me. Investing my emotions into caring about who wins or loses a game seems so silly right now.

Red Sox name 47 players to their player pool

They can still add additional players since they are below the 60-man limit. Seems like a good time to be in rebuild mode. I'd be be very frustrated if a long-awaited window of contention for my team was opening now, or about to close.

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

The sport of baseball is in so much trouble and it's hard to feel optimistic that it will improve in the coming years. Some folks seem to be picking sides but I can't. Ownership deserves the majority of blame in this fiasco in my opinion, as they are certainly in a collective position to have...

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

You're assuming competent leadership at MLB working together with the Player's Association for the joint safety and benefit of all involved. Nothing we've seen over the past three months has given me any hope that common sense will suddenly break out in baseball.

MLB 2020: We're Playing, but We Can't Agree on Anything

New York state has been far more serious in its Covid response than New Hampshire and would undoubtedly be better prepared, if also far more strict. There is also the benefit that they will already be working with the Yankees and Mets on precautions and protocol for both 'spring' training and...
