    What is this team missing?

Outside of Miami, is there a team/roster in the East you'd trade places with? This is still a very good team who blew by a (potentially) dangerous 76ers squad, defeated the defending champs, and then went toe-to-toe with Miami. I'd also pump the breaks on the Kemba is a Sunk Cost talk. No one...

    2021 Draft

Jim Callis has Leiter as the 6th best college prospect, and Perfect Game has him 7th. I'm not convinced he's a slam dunk #2 pick. Jaden Hill out of LSU...

    2020 Pats: Cooking with Cam

Yeah, that last play was a great example. Designed to run left and Jak Johnson, Onwenu, and Wynn all got decimated at the point of attack on the left side. If 2/3 of the trio at least stalemate their matchup, Cam probably finds a way to get the yard. (Izzo at least won his matchup cleanly.)

The Game Goat Thread: Wk.2 at Seattle

Wilson was absolutely spectacular. I can only blame the DBs and the ILBs so much. For one, the DBs were generally in good position; Seattle just made terrific plays. As for Bentley, he was excellent last week. This was a much tougher matchup for him, and I don't see DHT or KVN doing any better...

    2020 Pats: Cooking with Cam

Thanks SMU, I always look forward to your analysis. Do you have the All-22? If so, did N'Keal end up running any 2nd or 3rd level routes? If he did, any separation at all? (l listened to Cassell on the Curran/Phil Perry podcast this morning and Cassell was really down on Harry. His bluntness was...

    2020 Pats: Roster & Beyond (non-QB edition)

On Harry, I think about just how different the perception of his performance would have been Sunday had his two worst plays gone according to plan. Case in point, he (justifiably) took heat for not finishing his run better on the 1st quarter swing pass against a 185# corner. While he should have...

    9/20 Pats at Seattle

I'll be interested in watching the Seattle vs. Atlanta game from yesterday. Ryan threw for 450 yards, so I'm curious to see if they were empty stats; Atlanta had 3 WRs with over 100 yards receiving. Looking at Seattle's roster, this is not the Legion of Boom defense. They're still big, physical...

    2020 Pats: Prediction Poll

I'm not expecting the 2020 Patriots to be overly efficient, but there's a ton of unknowns with what this offense will look like. Harry's efficiency will be interesting. I'm expecting a fair amount of tear/bubble screens (not sure what terminology NE uses for them). It's an efficient route...

    2020 Pats: Prediction Poll

I don't want to derail this any more than I already have (but hey, I'm on topic at least). I'm generally aligned with you and part playing devil's advocate and part possibly being optimistic, but there's also a degree of realism here. How many yards do you foresee this offense having (assuming...

    2020 Pats: Prediction Poll

I think the skill talent is enough (not good, but enough) for the system when it's combined with this QB and OL. We know what Jules and James White are, and they are certainly Super Bowl caliber weapons. I may be overly optimistic about Harris; his pedigree is insane. When you're Alabama's...

    2020 Pats: Prediction Poll

No doubt about it on offense; Greg Olsen is likely to be superior to this group unless Asiasi and/or Keene are really unique. I do think Asiasi is going to be legitimately playable as a rookie though. 2 years in the Chip Kelly offense is almost like a master class for college football TEs. UCLA...

    2020 Pats: Prediction Poll

I went with 6-8 wins. I'm probably in the minority where I worry more about the defense than the offense. I think the offense will be fine; this group of weapons is more or less in line with what Cam has had his whole career. McCaffrey is obviously excellent and Olsen has always been an above...

2020 Pats: The WRs and TEs...Enough?

I can't disagree with much of this. I will say that Cam is on the higher end of running QBs. Healthy Cam is running ~130 times a year. Russ is more 70-80 runs a year, with a few spikes. I'm not sure how many bootlegs we'll see. Carolina kept him in the pocket, his runs were designed or natural...

2020 Pats: The WRs and TEs...Enough?

This really isn't any different from last year though, no? 2019 had Jules, Gordon/Sanu, Dorsett, Meyers, 1/2 season of N'Keal, and the unholy LaCosse/Watson/Izzo combo. Skill wise, 2020 is no worse off (on paper). Whatever you lose from the Gordon/Sanu combo (and it wasn't much), should be--in...

    Bruins Offseason Roster Thread

Is Trent Frederic in the mix next year? He's big, he's tough, and he can skate. The skill level probably isn't going to ever match up with the 1st round selection, but a big, tough, athletic body for the 4th line? How far away is Vaakanainen? He doesn't seem to have any standout traits, but...

Thoughts about media types who don't have their own threads

I'd always associated the idiom/metaphor with slavery, but comparing the players to animals isn't any better. I did send Mike a note. I do think he's a good guy who probably put the column together pretty quickly without thinking about it too heavily.

Thoughts about media types who don't have their own threads

I've been a big Mike Reiss fan since his MetroWest Daily News Patriots beat and he's been one of my go-to reporters for years. I thought his phrasing in last night's practice notes tweets was in very poor taste though: View:

    2020 NBA Draft

How do people feel about Cole Anthony at 14? I don't nearly have the same feel for this draft class as past ones, but Anthony seems like he's expected to go somewhere around that range. Obviously the high school pedigree is there, which Boston always takes into account. I watched Anthony a few...

    Celtics/Sixers First Round Thread

Dr. Chao's* diagnosis was the GH sprain looked like a 7-10 day type of absence. *I know for some on this board, Dr. Chao is verboten. Whatever past issues he's had (and they're well documented), I've found that he's generally pretty spot-on when he makes an online diagnosis. YMMV.

    Let's talk about this ballclub.

I can see the expanded playoff structure creating a beneficial supply & demand scenario for Boston. Having more teams in the playoff hunt, in theory, should create more buyers. Inversely, there would be less sellers available. I don't think the unique 2020 market will artificially inflate the...
