I'm rated 2k, but I haven't played in a tournament in a decade or so. I'm a stronger player than I was back then, but also stupider so probably still around there.

First time since I've been alive that a US player has played in a world championship. This is huge for US chess! I'm so pumped.
Probably figuring out what race he wants most to compete in is the first step. The training is totally different if you are running cross country or the 800 or whatever.
