    Bill O’Brien named Patriots OC

Better coaching will help with this but getting a true WR1 would also go a long way toward solving this issue. None of the current Patriot's receivers demand double coverage. They need someone who puts a little fear in their opponents defensive backfield

    2023 Draft Fits

After reading your post the first thing that popped into my head was that BB won't be able to resist taking the big Notre Dame TE Mayer if he is still on the board at 14.

Agree. BB is putting on a full court press to keep Mayo away from all of the other HC interviews and avoid having another team poach the guy that BB and Kraft consider worthy of the Patriot's HC job. If this is the Pat's succession plan, color me thrilled.

    Wild Card Weekend game thread

Depends on the team. A great defensive team like SF would probably want to kick off, counting on a stop and then only needing a FG to win. With a team like KC or Buffalo, I would take the ball first. Try to get the TD and put pressure on the opposition to match the score. This new system would...

    The OC Search

When talking about Alabama offense I thinks it's a good idea to take a few steps back for perspective. Their offense scored 64 touchdowns compared to their opponent's 27. They lost 2 games by a total of 4 points. I couldn't tell you whether BOB will be an effective pro OC or not but I'm not...

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

In years past I would want the OT, but the college game is changing rapidly to the point where the top wide receivers not only start as NFL rookies but dominate their position. IMO there are fewer true #1 WR than stud OL so I want the WR asap. I'd also speculate that with the extra years of...

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

Your points are valid. I just wonder if his pocket awareness would be improved with a competent QB coach to teach him blitz recognition or if a more creative OC could design better plays to make the offense less predictable. Not to mention a more consistent OL and most importantly a true #1...

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

If a defense is loading the box, the OC needs to design and call a play to counter that strategy. Mac has not had a great season and has not shown the growth and development we had all hoped for, but I can't blame him for not having an answer to a problem that the OC can't figure out.

CFB 2022 Bowls Week 2: At least it's football

It will be interesting to see if he declares for the NFL draft or heads into the transfer portal and plays out his final year of eligibility at a bigger football program. Word around the water cooler is he would like that to be Notre Dame.

    Patriots select OG Cole Strange

I don't see any penalties called on Strange so far. Six games in with no holding calls and no false starts is pretty remarkable for a rookie.

Braves Locking Up Their Future Signing Another Homegrown Star

In a quick review of the Braves contracts (Cots), there are a lot of club options and buyout provisions listed among the player's contracts but I did not see any players with an "opt out" clause or a "no trade" clause and as noted above the Braves have no players represented by Scott Boras. The...

CFB 2022 Week 6: GameDay in Lawrence

Wake's wide outs absolutely torched the Clemson secondary 2 weeks ago. Hartman threw 6 TD passes and had multiple OPI DPI calls on Clemson. If college OPI DPI was a spot foul, Wake would have won that game in regulation. I haven't followed BC closely this season but if they have any kind of...

The Game Goat Thread: Wk. 4 @ Green Bay

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think a blocker is allowed to dive at the knees of a defensive player. That was legal at one time but I believe that rule has been changed.
