    Verdugo 2023

We are not going to reiterate this. All descriptions of said incident were gross and vile and it was a shameful thing. I will not be party to any attempts at minimizing or whitewashing it.

    Only God Can Judge Judge

I'll push back on this: if the Yankees found a tell, either from the pitcher or the catcher, and used a coach to relay that tell to Judge, then they did absolutely nothing wrong and such actions have been part of baseball for more than 100 years. I strongly suspect that Judge was looking over...

    Tilt: Game Over

It's odd that Cora calls him "kid." He's a major league veteran and he's nearly 36 years old. He's got a ring, he's got decent money in the bank, and he's had a decent MLB career. Why the paeans? Probably shows the coddling attitude the Sox have had with this guy for a while. He pitched well...

    Verdugo 2023

Based on his actions when he was in the minor leagues, those were reasonable reactions. He seems to have matured. His effort has never been in question. And most importantly he's playing much better this year than in previous ones. It's good to see him becoming a valuable team asset.

It's the quarter mark. Where are we at?

They were 13-25 FFS. They're terrible. Getting swept by them is such a wasted opportunity. Incredibly frustrating.

It's the quarter mark. Where are we at?

They won 8 in a row then lost 5 out of 6 and got swept at home by a horrible basement dwelling NL team. Kind sums them up perfectly. They have some talent, but not enough. They can play well but not consistently. They need to start chucking dead weight over the railing. Braiser is a good...

    Tilt: Game Over

Thanks for '18. But it's about fuckin' time. Ridiculous he was allowed to be on the team this long.

    Round 1 - Florida

Well 2010 is a good example because they certainly traded key pieces away: they ditched Wideman in the Horton deal because they realized he was softer than puppy shit and not someone who could be depended on for the rigors of postseason play as a number 2 defenseman. They understood that they...

    Round 1 - Florida

No, instead they blew a 3-1 series lead to a team 17th in points. That's hardly better. I certainly hope no one is trying to softshoe this offseason. It's the biggest disaster since the 2010 Philly series.

    Round 1 - Florida

So he's 1-2 in series in his coaching career. Both series losses came in Game 7 OT. And all the evidence we need of him being a shitty postseason coach was this year. Given a historically dominant team, he made every wrong choice possible in order to lose the series.

Pitcher Metrics. The No WAR Zone.

It was a different game back in 1973. Yes, Ryan had 326 IP. But 7 other pitchers had more than 300 IP that year in the AL alone. And yes he led the league in IP in 1974. And again, 7 other pitchers cracked 300 IP, and Ryan only led the league by 4 IP. He wasn't some sort of crazy outlier back...

Offseason game thread- shed your salty tears

I'll say this: before Donnie got here I never would have thought the Bruins would have re-signed/extended a player like Pasta. I always assumed those guys would leave. He's not. That's a very good thing.

Yup. DeBrusk is a good pick. Zboril was a good pick derailed by injuries (consensus at the time said he was gonna be an excellent pick). But Barzal haunts us.

Offseason game thread- shed your salty tears

I don't think they're incompetent. But they are staring down threading the needle towards a soft rebuild in the wake of a brutal bottle job, with big changes needed this summer due to cap concerns. The best FO in the world is going to have a hard time with that task. I agree with cshea that...

It seems to me that once Jacbos got the salary cap he wanted so badly, he immediately stepped back and let the hockey guys run things. And he wasn't afraid to make big changes when warranted, like firing Dave Lewis after one year.

Eh, Charlie stays out of things and lets the hockey guys run the team. That's all anyone could want from him.

Offseason game thread- shed your salty tears

Very true. It's just not a lot of fun to see them exposed as clueless. Donnie is a smart guy but no one at this thing looks good right now.
