    NFL: News and transactions

I think this is exactly right. Kraft only cares that Goodell has grown league revenue, made him a ton of money, and increased the value of his investment. Fans are the only ones who still even think about Deflategate, never mind the videotaping stuff which is now 16 years old. I doubt Kraft...

    NFL: News and transactions

Yeah this. If you look at what Ryan saw when let that ball go I think it was a horrendous decision. Jones is covered and there is no window to get that ball in. He got bailed out by IMO the single greatest catch in Super Bowl history. Just an insane catch by Jones. That said I always like...

Just What is Apex Mountain: Rewatchables discussion thread

I listened to the Iron Man pod, I'm more lukewarm on BS than many in this thread so admittedly I have a higher tolerance for him than some, but I think he legitimately likes the movie and went into this well intentioned, and Van Lathan is funny as shit and I'll listen to pretty much anything...

    Toucher and Rich

View: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr4IB49gb2M/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= An apology from Fred to Rich and the crew, including an admission that Rich did reach out to him and even offered his contacts at Dana Farber. I hope Fred pulls through this and then also gets some help for the other stuff that...

Pats Round1 Pick #17: CB Christian "The Steal" Gonzalez

I am not a draft guy at all, but love the excitement over this guy. The only thing I have to add is, the Patriots drafted a player born the same year as my oldest daughter. Jesus Christ I am old.

    POLL: Skiers of SoSH Locations

Northeast here. I skied a ton when I was younger but then I didn't ski for about 20 or so years or so (long story, my ex-wife didn't ski). My now wife and I got back into it a few years ago. We are actually in the process of buying a place at Okemo as we speak. I mostly skied in Maine and...

    Celebrating what is

I agree this was the point of McCourtey's story. But, this can be true and you can also be put off by BB elevating his son to a position he was admittedly not ready for. Nepotism sucks, whether it ultimately works out or not.

    Celebrating what is

What an absurd story. I've written extensively here about the issues related to nepotism so I won't go down that road again. Let's just say the fact that it seems to have worked out this time doesn't fill me with warm and fuzzies about BB. Edit: I do agree that it makes me think more highly...

    Pats sign JuJu Smith-Schuster

I like the move because I think JuJu has a higher ceiling and can bring a dimension to the offense they were lacking with the YAC. But it isn’t a huge upgrade and agree with others that neither Meyers nor JuJu are #1’s and if we go into the season with him as the primary receiver it is going to...

    McCourty retiring

One of my favorite players from the 2nd Dynasty. A great leader, and (as far as we know) a great guy off the field also. I feel like he could have still contributed, but not surprising that he's going out now.

    Tom Brady is retiring

Yeah, I mean as a huge Brady fan my preference would be for him to stay in a line and either play or don't. But, his decision to play or not doesn't really impact the Pat's future plans either way so what do I care? He's entitled to make his own decision and shouldn't be bothered by what...

    Best Superbowl ever? Let's talk

The Hightower play is highlighted in Do Your Job 1. Lynch should have scored on that play. Hightower somehow shed a block and made an amazing tackle. That play definitely gets lost in the shuffle because of the next play, but it was an amazing individual effort.

    Best Superbowl ever? Let's talk

As has been discussed here several times, because the Pats did not call timeout the Seahawks had to pass on either 2nd or 3rd down. If they ran on 2nd down and got stuffed then they would have had to pass on 3rd down and the Pats would have known it. Throwing the ball on 2nd down was the right...

    Best Superbowl ever? Let's talk

The Scottish Game was not a great football game. Sorry. Incredible upset? Yes. Memorable in that Pats fans wanted 19-0 and everyone else wanted them to lose? Yes. But the iconic play (a) should never have happened if they blow the whistle when Eli was in the grasp, and (b) was a stupid...

    Best Superbowl ever? Let's talk

This is a predominantly Patriots board so there is going to be some bias, but 49 to me is the answer. 36 was great in that it started the dynasty, had a great finish, and was a great upset. But if great upsets are part of the equation then the Scottish Game has to be in the mix and I reject...

    Celebrating what is

Yeah, like I said it is a close call. That's why I can't say I'd trade 53 or 39 (or whatever) for it, because like you I don't want to lose those memories. But if you started the simulation of the BB/TB era over again and, without knowing which years they were going to win or how or which...

    Celebrating what is

Without getting into which one I would trade, I would probably rather have 5 Super Bowls with one of them having been an undefeated season instead of 6 Super Bowls, but it's a close call. Either way, these are massive first world sports fan problems to be contemplating.

    Tom Brady is retiring

I don't understand the one-day contract thing. Seems kind of silly and I'm not sure why it matters. I'd rather they have him back for some official retirement press conference and announce a date for a future Tom Brady day at Gillette. Yeah he didn't retire as a Patriot, who cares? Nobody is...

    Tom Brady is retiring

The one thing I will say is that if he ended up on the Dolphins or Jets that would have been really difficult, so I am glad that didn’t happen. But, as much as I wished he could have retired as a Patriot, I still enjoyed watching him play football, even for the Bucs. I do hope they can now...

    Tom Brady is retiring

I’m shocked, I definitely thought he was in for one more year. And I badly wanted one more year, but he’s obviously earned the right to make whatever decision works best for him and his family. The undisputed GOAT. What an amazing career.
