5/29 - The Last Of Us

I really hope there’s a 2004 Red Sox or two in the house … but if there is, the Celtics are sure being coy about it.

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

Any DC area Gooners interested in going to the Arsenal/MLS all stars game on July 19? My wife and daughter have both bailed, leaving me with 4 tickets and only able to use 2. The seats are in the Arsenal fan section (113, row 23) at Audi field, so you’ll be surrounded by like-minded...

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

Kiwior looked good, I thought — definitely more comfortable upfield and moving the ball around than Holding. Which means that whatever was bothering Gabriel through the second half will keep him out of Newcastle and it will be Kiwior and Holding in the middle.

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

ESPN and The Athletic both report that Arsenal made a second, "improved" offer for Mudryk, but it sounds like that's more in the nature of add-ons and moving money up front (are deferred payments the norm?) rather than moving from 65M much towards100M. I'm conflicted about transfers. On the...

Match Week Nov. 12-14…Is this how it’s done?

Very excited about Arsenal getting three points against a sad sack Wolves side to be top of the table through Christmas. Let’s get it done, boys!

Match Week Nov 5-7: Waiting on the World (Cup)

Taking the better part of a minute off the clock in stoppage time with an 1-0 lead and not drawing a card in the process? What part of that strikes you as dumb?

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

Other than wishing - for FPL reasons - that Gabriel hadn’t touched Saka’s goal-scoring corner on its way in, that was great. A couple misplays in front of Ramsdale, Jesus should have had that header, but all in all … that was a lot of fun. Didn’t mind Saka getting the yellow after some of...

Man - Leeds has looked great in the second half. Ramsdale is saving Arsenal's bacon.

I’m not sure it would even have to be overlaid - there’s ways to mess with the proportions and such so that the bottom few inches of the TV could be dedicated to chyrons without it running across play. I leave that to the graphic designers, though - I’m just wondering if there’s a reason every...

Why aren’t there more chyrons in soccer coverage? I realized the other day that I missed my steady stream of information - “five saves in last game,” “last won at Anfield in 1999,” etc. If it’s a Brit thing, why doesn’t NBC/USA do it in its coverage, at least?

    MW Oct 8-11: Congest this!

The USA announcers said right away that they thought he was trying to keep his balance as he threw on the brakes rather than enlarging his profile for defensive purposes.

Yeah - I haven’t seen xG numbers, but kvetching about the official aside, it would be hard for Liverpool to claim they were the better team today.

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

That was a bummer. Felt good after Saka knotted it up, but that second goal was entirely on Ben White. My son and I were both yelling at the TV for him to get back - he stayed in an advanced position well after possession changed, and it was too late to close the angle by the time he...

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

The midfield is officially thin now, I think, with Partey and Elneny both hurt. Zinchenko, who might have been a reasonable candidate to play a 6, is apparently 50/50 for tomorrow. I guess it’s Xhaka and Lokonga for the next couple games, but I wondered - with double game weeks starting up -...

Arsenal 22-23: Time to Deliver the Goods

So, I’ll shamelessly use this as a jumping off point to ask for the group’s collective wisdom on something. Saka’s off to a slow start - no goals, no assists, expected npG+A/90 less than half of last year’s rate (.22 vs .46). Is the season so young that reacting to this is like reacting to...
