    Game 2 Mia, goats

Is he willing to do that for $16M/year, which is where Smith topped out? If so, sure. Otheriwse, the customary salary for a starting QB on his second contract will hamper the team from finding the very pieces Jones would need to make it worth it for the team.

    What was Bloom's best acquisition?

It amazes me how many people continue to willfully ignore Price being stapled to Betts when they talk about that trade.

The Red Sox have fired Chaim Bloom

I assume this is in response to my comment, but not all of them have to hit and no one with any sense thinks they will. A small handful in addition to the current core will fill some holes at low salaries and create $ for chasing big ticket guys. It's not wishcasting to look at the farm right...

The other advantage is that if the Pats lose to the Fins this weekend, the torches and pitchforks will do a 180 and head over to Gillette to rage over BB losing his fastball.

The Red Sox have fired Chaim Bloom

You could argue that, but it would be silly. He was traded so they didn't end up in luxury tax hell by paying him as a FA. They were never going to spend that "savings."

Eh, it's Rosh Hashanah, not Yom Kippur. He can go out and drink his face off after services.

They'll fill the spot. By the same token, however, the GM you want probably does have choices.

The Red Sox have fired Chaim Bloom

The idea that Bloom ever had a full payroll to work with is a bit disingenuous. He had to get out underneath DD's deficit, and then stay under the luxury cap. I don't really buy the idea that JH gave him carte blanche to rebuild.

So....who is the new GM/head of baseball ops?

Theo's too smart to touch this org with a ten-foot Louisville Slugger.

The Red Sox have fired Chaim Bloom

He didn't prop it up, he basically rebuilt it. Gonna be fun watching some GM take credit for a ring with a team stocked with Bloom's picks.

9/9 - We Are Going To Lose

The "Bloomati" don't give a flying fuck about 2021, it's about 2025. But keep living in the land where GMs bottom out at ownership's direction and contend again in three years.
