Western Conference Finals: Minnesota Timberwolves (3) vs Dallas Mavericks (5)

Typical Harlan: Ant brings down the house with the dunk of the series … like a full three seconds later, “WHAT A PLAY BY EDWARDS!” He couldn’t have prepared himself when Ant was in mid flight?

Wow, disagree completely. It could be partly Reggie’s fault, but I never get the sense he’s really seeing or thinking the game well (unlike Breen). He does have a nice voice, tho. I actually like SVG, so maybe I’m just weird.

Western Conference Finals: Minnesota Timberwolves (3) vs Dallas Mavericks (5)

Kevin Harlan is a low key awful announcer. Fails to recognize critical plays, is 3-4 seconds late on every call, and gets excited at *all* the wrong times. And his signature calls are things a six-year old would say shooting a nerf ball like, “WHAT A SHOT!” Always makes me realize how good...

    2023-2024 General NBA Season Thread

Haha, he had experience with getting punched in the face with MJ! He did a bit more than "let the players play," of course — starting with completely sh*tcanning Mark Jackson's Jurassic offense that was dead last in the NBA in passes per possession and had peak Steph standing in the corner and...

Basically the same resumé Kerr had when he took over for GS: all-time elite shooter; handsome metrosexual with annoyingly perfect hair; likable dude who says much less (and fewer) dumb things on TV than most of his colleagues.

OKC Thunder (1) vs Dallas Mavericks (5) - 2024 WC Second Round

Luka's playoff TS (through 10 games) is now a DeRozan-esque .508 — which has dragged his career playoff TS down to .561. It's clear he's pretty banged up right now; and crap scoring efficiency notwithstanding, he's been a strong positive on the floor (unlike DeRozan). But he's over 25 now, with...

    2024 NBA Draft

I was thinking who LeBron could be at that size and the upside comp that came to me was Jason Kidd. So … I agree, he still could have been really good. For Bronny’s NBA hopes, tho: not great.

    2024 NBA Draft

Bronny measures 6’-1.5” w/o shoes at today’s combine. Ouch. Would LeBron — even given his elite athleticism, skill, and hoops IQ — have made the NBA at that size?

    2024 NBA Draft

In the latest Simmons-Russillo chat, RR says his front office contacts rate this draft anywhere from "top guy would be #4 in an average draft" (the most glowing appraisal) to "top guy would be #10 in an average draft." He goes on to conjecture that the #1 pick in this draft might fetch something...

Denver Nuggets (2) vs Minnesota Timberwolves (3) - 2024 WC Second Round

Stop your messing around. Better think of your future. Time to straighten right out. Creating problems in town.

Denver Nuggets (2) vs Minnesota Timberwolves (3) - 2024 WC Second Round

Obligatory: One-play samples and one-game samples aside, the data suggests Rudy has been and still is a hugely positive player, overall. The questions for me are (1) why he’s been so much less positive in the playoffs than the in the regular season; and (2) if he was the right acquisition at...

Denver Nuggets (2) vs Minnesota Timberwolves (3) - 2024 WC Second Round

Can we go back to thinking the Gobert trade was terrible for Minnesota? He's nine years older than Ant, and a marginally better player (of a similar ilk) to Walker Kessler. The Wolves bid against themselves and gave up Kessler plus not one, not two, but five unprotected first round picks, any of...

Denver Nuggets (2) vs Minnesota Timberwolves (3) - 2024 WC Second Round

I guess I never really get the criteria for "two-way player." If you play both offense and defense (as all NBA players do) and your **overall** impact is consistently the best in the league, that makes you the best two-way player, in my book.
