R1/3: Drake Maye QB UNC (1st Start this week)

these two posts, combined with a positive assessment of last weeks line play (except for Leverett and maybe Jacobs) make me optimistic for the next few weeks. Let’s Goooo!

FLASH POLL: Who should start on Sunday--Maye or Brissett?

OK - changed my mind due to these 3 additional factors to the futility of Jacoby: 1. Morale. Players will start to check out if something doesn't change - see all the penalties. 2. Business. Empty seats. Miami fans in the stands. Nobody even there to chant "Play Maye" 3. "Run the Dang Ball...

FLASH POLL: Who should start on Sunday--Maye or Brissett?

Watching the futility of Brissett and the team as this season unfolds is really starting to grind, but the next two weeks with an ascendant Houston then Jacksonville in London with the travel making it a shorter week of prep make it a bit hard to say let’s throw the kid out there. Jets at home...

Hold the Mayo? Evaluating Patriots coaching.

Post game locker room vibe at mutiny level yet?

Chris Sale (plus $17mil) traded to Atlanta for Vaughn Grissom

Haha - 100% right! Only 2 starts between July 27 and Sept 16 -- 5IP vs BAL Aug 12 (15 days rest) and 1IP vs. TOR Sept 11 (29 days rest). And failed to go 5IP the rest of the way; except for 5.1 against MFY in ALDS Game 1.

Hold the Mayo? Evaluating Patriots coaching.

Thanks everyone for the extra detail. I did not hear it on PU in the Thursday podcast, and don't subscribe to the Catch 22 podcast or listen to 98.5 with Joe Murray, so I missed all of this. The truth as often can happen is likely somewhere between "players expressing their frustration with...

Chris Sale (plus $17mil) traded to Atlanta for Vaughn Grissom

I didn't feel like piling on, but Sale really is that guy who crumbles toward the end of the season. This season - unlike most of the Red Sox years - he almost made it to the playoffs. My favorite Sale moment was the only time he made it to the final game of the year with the Sox - coming on in...

Joe Castiglione to retire at end of season

Wow. Just a timely reminder of how good we have had it as radio listeners - just listened to the last inning of the Milwaukee based radio announcers and the announcer got many of his facts wrong (the Brewers coughed up a 2 run lead not a 3 run lead, forgot to tell you that it had been a base hit...

Hold the Mayo? Evaluating Patriots coaching.

There were some signs of discontent in and after the 49ers game. Pop Douglas and Godchaux notably. But Lazar and Dussault of PU both are in the locker room regularly during the week when the press are allowed access, so they would see it if anyone would.

    2024 MLB playoff rooting interests

I’m sure you’ve seen the Higashioka blink-182 guitar souvenir news. Some positive karma to maybe counteract Machado-Pedroia. Hope the Padres can ride that wave. Would be cool to cross another team off the never won list.

Hold the Mayo? Evaluating Patriots coaching.

Patriots Unfiltered guys implying Mayo and AVP are not on the same page about when Drake Maye should play. Not a good look; hope this resolves next 1-2 weeks.

Are the Pats the worst team in the NFL?

Middle of the night here so I’ll butt out. But I don’t think he’s going have to work very hard. Swing and miss for #1 WRs (Ridley, Aiyuk if that was even real) and whatever feeble attempts they made to bring in an OT… Edit. Thanks SMU

Are the Pats the worst team in the NFL?

I dunno. Matt Patricia and Bill O’Brien weren’t exactly a murderers row of OCs, and all we got was AVP? Not exactly the “tight pants” brigade as Lazar call them.

    2024 MLB playoff rooting interests

Exciting that there are a couple of teams that have never won it all as well as a couple which have not won in 40+ years. Accordingly: AL: Guardians or Tigers. KC won it recently, but I have nothing against them, so they're 3rd choice. Don't like the Orioles, but can recognise that Baltimore as...

Hold the Mayo? Evaluating Patriots coaching.

They've been pretty good at avoiding penalties - best in the league at 4 per game, and 172 yards penalised is top 6. Note only 5 total pre-snap penalties as well (source: Team Penalties Rankings 2024 - nflpenalties.com) As well, despite Rham's rash of fumbles, the Patriots sit at +/- 0 after 4...

Let's Predict the 2024 Red Sox Season

I agree the playoffs are wide open and it’s a shame the Sox aren’t still playing, but these Red Sox couldn’t even get hot enough to snare WC3. When all the competitors above them were collapsing, what did they do? Collapsed.

Expectations for Patriots season, after game 4

I was in the 5 or 6 camp before the season, but looking at Jacoby’s valiant effort (massive limitations) combined with the continued carnage on the OL, as well as the defense not really getting it done. It’s hard to see them putting in Maye any time soon, and thus not able to see more than three...

Goats, Week 4 at San Francisco

Thanks for that. I for one can't wait for the Maye era to begin - even if he might be running for his life for the first few games.
