QUOTE (CrouchingTonyHiddenPena @ Jan 26 2010, 10:04 PM) Randomly, I tried the 2 fairly new Dragon apps. One is for speech-2-text, and the other for speech searching on numerous engines (google, wiki, youtube, twitter, etc). They are fucking sweet IMHO...and free. I'm constantly blown away by...

QUOTE (Trautwein's Degree @ Sep 4 2009, 02:01 PM) The 09/09/09 has to be a sign there's a Beatles related announcement to be made. Thoughts? Not happening. I say that with 99.9999% certainty. Also, the title of the invite is a Stones song “It’s only R&R but I like it.” Would have made...

QUOTE (The Napkin @ Sep 4 2009, 11:54 AM) so how do these things work? there's a rumored "media event" on Sept 9 for the new touch announcement, does that mean if it's announced then that they'll be available that day? I fly out Sept 10 at 6, I'd love to be able to pick one up the night of the...

QUOTE (Yaz4Ever @ Aug 26 2009, 03:30 PM) rage - are you hearing the same things I've heard? Anything to correct/add to what I responded to Napkin? basically yeah. I hadn't heard about video, but I could see that. I think it will depend on the hardware/memory that's included. The iPod...

well, Daring Fireball is maybe the best source, but it's not really a news/rumor source--but trustworthy reporting and analysis. Mac Rumors is pretty good as well. There's not necessarily a specific go-to "source" on this stuff, but when it comes to the iPhone a lot of it originates from...

I strongly don't believe the fold-out keyboard rumor fwiw, however I think there is a good chance of an improved camera in the next version. If you can wait, I'd be inclined to wait. I think there will also almost certainly be more internal RAM and possibly a faster processor, so the new...

3.0 is not supporting background processes, so I don't know that this will fix anything. There will be background push notifications, which will allows apps to push notices while not running, but if the app cannot continue to run in the background, I unfortunately don't think audio can continue...

also, if you keep having problems, delete from your phone (hold icon until shakes, then hit X"). It will still be in your iTunes, so you can re-install. If for whatever reason, you can re-download from iTunes again and not be charged (it will warn you, and allow you to DL). No, you can't run...

it's coming out this "summer." I'd guess august. there will basically be an in-app payment system, so you can add onto the app as additions are needed: buy extra levels in-game, buy new city coverage for travel guide from within app when you're in a new city, etc.

holy shit, Amazon app is cool. Killer feature is "Amazon Remembers" which lets you snap a photo with the phone, and it then uploads to the Amazon page so you can remember and look for it next time you log in. Best part is that it tries to match products available with what is in the picture...

two great apps that I have been playing with: 1) Instapaper -- you install this on your computer browser via a java bookmarklet, and you do a 2 second reg on their site. Then, when you are reading an article online that you would like to read later on your phone, you just click "read later"...

speaking of apps, there is mounting evidence that a lot of issues can be avoided by ONLY adding/updating apps via iTunes and not OTA. I personally haven't tried, but it's worth noting. CTHP, you heard any more about this?

I'm not sure how much of this is new to F1 fans, but there is a great article on the spy scandal in the new Wired. link The other plus here, is that reading this article lead me to watching a bunch of Schumacher/Momtoya clips on YouTube, which I greatly enjoyed.
