2024 NFL Draft 4th through 7th round gamethread WITH SPOILERS

This. 100%, absolutely agree. Cross-posting myself from the Javon Baker thread: Edit: Fixed quote marks

    R4/110 Javon Baker WR UCF

Give me the "plays faster than his speed" player over the "runs fast" one any day. Speed is great, super important. But speed without football skill looks like Tyquan Thornton or David Terrell. "Plays faster than his speed" to me usually means the odds of the player having better spatial...

    R1/3: Drake Maye QB UNC

Re the bolded, it's crazy but that's how I feel as well. I was on, and am still kinda hanging onto, the Drake Maye wagon but feeling some buyer's remorse. But I'm no expert, and I certainly hope I'm wrong in every possible way.

2024 NFL Draft 1st round gamethread: Maye the odds be ever in your favor WITH SPOILERS

I'm probably going to be wrong, because I don't have any sound or rational reason for feeling this way, but I think JJM is going to make a lot of people regret not selecting him. And BB's take just affirmed it for me, for better or worse.

    One Draft Hot-Take

The Pats draft JJM at #3 and he'll turn out to be "the (second-)best decision the organization has ever made," surpassed only by the player to whom that quote is attributed.

What do you want Pats to do with #3?

Reading the posts in this thread and all the analyses included, it prompted me to look for scouting reports on Brady back in 2000. The following article more or less summarizes the gamut of opinions on the greatest NFL quarterback who's ever played...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Thanks for posting this. For a neophyte like me, it was a good, simplified, and direct primer on McCarthy. He's got some fantastic traits, but it's much easier to understand now why his ceiling is such a question mark. I still like him, but definitely not at #3. Edited for: grammar stuff.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

As I said, I don't know much. I'm not being defensive - I've very little idea how to project college quarterbacks into the NFL. I was happy with the Mac pick, so that says a lot about my eye for quarterback potential. I think I miss Brady so much that buzzwords like "poise" and "being able to...

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

    Got it. Thanks.

The Next Pats QB: Daniels or Maye?

Disclaimer: I don't watch college football and in no universe known to humanity would I be considered a draftnik. I was just stuck by how Brugler and Tice described JJ McCarthy. The good arm - not great, but better than Mac - the poise, the ability to step up in key moments, the "intangibles."...

Eliot Wolf will be in charge of the personnel department

Not sure if this is the right forum to post the link in (mods, please feel free to move if not appropriate), but since we're talking about the personnel department, this is an encouraging and interesting read about the organization's first full-time female scouting assistant, Maya Ana Callender...

    Brady is back….back again

Not saying I necessarily disagree with what you're saying here. But, in reading all the posts on these Brady-Bundchen divorce rumors, what seems to be missing is a fuller acknowledgment of what Bundchen wants beyond having her husband and kids' father be in their lives full-time and healthy...

    Cam Newton signs with Carolina

I thought Zack Cox over on NESN.com put it quite succinctly (elaborating a little bit more on the Jeff Howe tweet in RedOctober3829"s post #56): Link I knew that teams often showed vanilla looks in preseason games, but didn't realize they were more likely to show their true hand in joint...

NFL Draft Rd.1: Picks Gamethread--NO SPOILERS

Did anyone else notice how quickly BB submitted his pick? He must really like McCorkle.

Ian Rapoport says it's done: "The #Browns have traded Jason McCourty to his brother Devin McCourty and the Patriots… They are swapping 6th and 7th round picks this year." Edit: Was beaten by a long mile by BSJ

    2016 Bills: BRexit

No, it's not odd. It's just me. "Brain freeze" is severely understating it. I've been watching football as a semi-casual fan for a while (with only half a brain, obviously), and I'm embarrassed to say I wasn't aware of the different rules for receiving/recovering kicks and punts. Thanks to all...

    2016 Bills: BRexit

Okay, like the Bills, I may be having a brain-freeze of my own. In the Bills' case, the Bills kicking team never actually possessed the ball (they didn't even touch it). They simply let it bounce into the end zone. So why were the Jets allowed the touchdown? Conversely, in the Wilson example...

    #DFG: Canceling the Noise

I'd wondered when some media member would come at this whole mess from a "you are now warned" angle with regards to current NFL players, some of whom I'm sure find a certain amount of schadenfreude (if only out of envy or jealousy) in what Brady and the Pats are going through.  Well, I wonder no...

    #DFG: Canceling the Noise

Deflategate has made a little more headway into pop culture sites.  Leaving aside the plea to Bill Simmons, this is for all of us screaming silently and wishing we could say what we really want to say to the naysayers and Goodell/NFL apologists (it's a little long, as such things go):    ...
