Running the SuperSunday 10K (in Boston) on Sunday morning. So far, the forecast is looking pretty good. Anyone here running? I realized this is my first organized race since my 2007 marathon; I've been running, but not as seriously, mostly due to a very (otherwise) busy 2008, so I'm trying...

Just signed up for this race (5K/10K...I'm in the 10K pile)-- Superbowl Sunday morning--good way to prepare for eating and drinking! I apologize ahead of time if someone has already posted it... http://www.metlifecyclingteam.com/events/supersunday.php

I haven't heard about anyone getting killed, and that's terrible if it happened. I never felt that I was in danger. It's dark at night (obviously...), but the only people around are people in vans for the runners and they're usually driving slowly etc. and hooting and hollering out the window...

It's been a while since I've been in here... Running the Hyannis Half in February...can't bring myself to do a full one at this point. It was a busy summer and fall, so my distance running is suffering a bit. And I'm also doing the Madison to Chicago Relay in June...I've run Reach the Beach...

Loving this weather. Good luck to the marathon folks on Monday. I am going to do this race (sorry if it's been posted already, I didn't see it, but I may have missed it). http://www.newcharlesriverrun.com/ I'm going to do the 7.5M, and I have little excuse because I live about 5 Pedroias...

Hey all-- My running parter is moving out of town, unfortunately. Does anyone here know of someone (or is someone) who needs or wants a running partner? I live in Back Bay, and now that it's getting a bit warmer outside, I'm looking to run in the mornings before work, ~3-5 miles around maybe...

Does it 'pinch'? From time to time, I get a pinching pain...I think it's from a knot in the back of my right knee/calf that ends up doing something weird with one of the tendons in the back of my knee...sports massages take care of it for me...hurts like hell, then I feel great. Happens a lot...

Hey everyone-- Not sure if you guys have seen this (and I apologize if it's earlier in the thread...I looked, but could have missed it over 15+ pages). Someone sent me the following link Athlinks.com Basically, someone compiled race data by person's name that you can claim as your own. It's...

Sadly (okay, maybe not so sadly...), I will be in Tahoe the weekend of May 25. Damn weddings. It's just my luck with these things. Providence could do.... I just need a goal especially for days like today where running outside is not totally an option....I *hate* treadmills. I'll do it, but...

Well done. I once ran two half marathons in the same summer where I posted the EXACT same time, right down to the second. Talk about consistency. Oh, and don't run two marathons in a three month span. Does anyone know of any half-marathons coming up in the greater Boston area(maybe...

The clothes might have something to do with it, and posture as well. In my own experience (and my experience coaching track for a year), I've observed two things that lead to shoulder and back pain...these are just observations and I have no physiological science to back it up: 1. Upper body...

I agree about the gels for a half, although when I've had really early half marathons (~6 or 7am..I'm sooo not a morning person), I've been known to have a powergel with caffeine around mile 8 or so to give me a little kick. Also note that I'm pretty much always hungry, so I enjoy a little...

I don't use the coolrunning one, I use the one from here: www.mapmyrun.com (I'm a dork and can't figure out how to link, but you get the idea...). Map my run is awesome, especially if you live somewhere with satellite, because you can fairly accurately map your off-street running...when I run...

Just a side note-- I've found it better to do the 'extra miles' before the race-- the end of a 22 miler is definitely where I need spectators/fluids/motivation. Unless the race starts at some ungodly hour. When I lived in NYC I used to do all of my long runs on the day that the New York Road...

People will have a field day with this, but here you go: If you don't know about it already: BodyGlide. This sounds sexual, but it's not. You can get it at running stores, I think, but I've gotten mine at EMS and REI. You can put it anywhere and it avoids chafing/blisters etc. It's the...

It turns out that I'm the type that runs no matter what, but I think I'm smart enough to know when to at least slow down...if you go a few pages back, I commented on my Chicago this year. Needless to say, not running at all would have been smart, but we ran anyway and slowed down a lot right...

I also think that putting water over your head can be just as important as the water that gets in you. In my experience, keeping my head/body cool helps just as much as staying hydrated. Just make sure you don't get your shoes wet in the process...because that's certainly not fun.

While training, I was definitely gunning for ~ 4:00 marathon, Chicago is pretty flat. I think I'm capable of it and probably more, and can run a half in a ~1:48...I just haven't put a good marathon together....yet. I was well prepared for Chicago and the weather ruined it! But that's how it...

I finished all 26.2 miles of it...when we were approaching mile 20, there were these dudes that were yelling at us to stop running and they told us that we weren't allowed to finish and it was too dangerous, blah blah blah. I was 20 miles in, and there was NO WAY that I was stopping...

I had no idea that so many SoSHers are runners. This makes me happy. I also had no idea that lurkers can reply to "General Sports" categories. This also makes me happy. I just ran my third marathon in October (the now infamous Chicago Marathon 2007 that was 'called off' due to 90 degree...
