T20, List A, and ODIs, Oh My: The Cricket Thread (No, Not That Kind of Cricket)

Quite a day for the underdog- Windies win in Oz, England has a comeback for the ages in India. What a second innings for England. Just incredible. They were absolute toast after the first day.

    Apple Vision Pro AR Headset

All the initial responses seem similar: "this is incredibly cool, and by far the best implementation of AR/VR to date... but after a week toying with it, what are we going to use it for?" I think it'll take a few years to mature from a very expensive and very cool toy to a genuinely useful...

The curious case of Joey Barton and his crucade against women in the men's game

I think he had a go at Emma Hayes a few weeks back as well- hilarious considering she's got more managerial talent in her index finger than he has in his entire body. I'm pretty well versed in Joey Barton and his various past shenanigans, but I never knew his brother was given a life sentence...

An ode to Jim Caple (RIP)

That's a great piece- thanks for posting it. Caple was always one of my favorite writers. Rest easy Jim.

Tim Wakefield has passed away from brain cancer at 57 (10/1 update)

I take immense pride in having a well documented record of disliking Schilling way before it was in vogue. "To the greatest Red Sox team ever assembled" so struck me the wrong way. Guy had been here, what, 10 months? It was Pedro's team and always will be.

That picture is awesome. What a great place SoSH is.

    Arsenal 23-24: Watch this Space

I don't know about tickets, but once she gets settled I'm sure something can be arranged tour wise for those of you who admit London is blue. +WAR for her saboteur skills. This is what I'm banking on.

Liverpool 23-24: The Long Klopp Goodbye

I'm sure it has nothing to do with being in London or part of a young, clearly talented rebuilt squad with a decent manager either. ;-)

    Arsenal 23-24: Watch this Space

In other transfer news, my sister in law has been pulled out of a brief break from soccer employment by the hated Arsenal. After 8 years at Chelsea and a few months in other employment, the Arsenal made her an offer she can't refuse. They've got ridiculous notice periods over there but she'll...

Liverpool 23-24: The Long Klopp Goodbye

Apart from the fact Chelsea's been after him for months and they agreed personal terms back in May? And Liverpool showed up out of nowhere?

BPDA approves Fenway Corners, a $1.6 billion development around Fenway Park

I don't see this as anything different than what the Fenway neighborhood has been undergoing for the last 5-8 years or so. It's already SoDoSoPa - that ship has sailed. If you haven't been to Fenway in the last 5 years or so, you won't even recognize the area. I'm an upper middle class WASP...

    SoSH Golf, 2023

I have two younger brothers. They both played a little as kids, I didn't play at all. We've all taken it up as adults- the two of them much more seriously than I. They're both pretty competent- I'm the definition of a 100 golfer. Just bragging on behalf of the middle one who's currently on a...

Very interesting declaration last night. Stuart Broad starting my morning off right. Those two wickets back to back woke the crowd up.

If the continuity of stupidity continues to haul in trophies at the pace Chelsea has in the last 20 years, long may it continue.

Chelsea FC tickets in the spring

Tour is probably 45 min tops? The club museum would take 30-45 min to go through as well. You'll walk out of the tunnel from the locker rooms and get to stand on the sideline and in each technical area, but you can't walk on the actual pitch itself.

Chelsea FC tickets in the spring

Ah! Sorry @biollante. As SR mentions, my SiL's last day there was this past Tuesday. She had been there full time for the past 8 years in the Tours & Museum group. She got an unsolicited job offer that she couldn't refuse very shortly after I posted here helping SR out several weeks back...

    EPL for the first time

Agree with OCST- there won't be anyone at the U21 game. You'll definitely see some good football and some quality players, but there won't be any crowd there. Was that at Kingsmeadow? If you're looking for a good fan atmosphere, Chelsea Women would give you that. I'd second the...

    EPL for the first time

Brutal. I'm sorry. Stamford Bridge is unfortunately fairly small compared to most of their contemporaries stadiums. Do let me know about the tour though- happy to help anyone visiting who would like one.

    EPL for the first time

Sure! Just navigate to their website, click "Tickets & Hospitality" in the header, and choose either "Buy Hospitality" or "Matchday VIP". Cheapest you'll find probably run around 200-300 pounds/person. They get a lot more expensive from there. The various packages are detailed in there, but...

    EPL for the first time

Sorry that I missed the earlier thread. There won‘t really be a meet and greet type deal- I wouldn’t get your hopes up for that. I’m on mobile so it’s difficult at the moment, but if you end up going I can show you where the players park on game days- you may be able to get a glimpse of him...
