The 1995 Red Sox Appreciation Thread

I saved all my tickets from that era and have 1995 bleacher tickets among them - face value $6. Was that also the year the Kingdome was falling apart and so we got to see an unscheduled Sox-Mariners doubleheader at Fenway with all seats general admission? I went to those games and saw that...

The 1995 Red Sox Appreciation Thread

I went to a bunch of games at Fenway that season, and against my wishes, I feel like renowned meatball artist Zane Smith started every one. Other than that, that was one of the most fun Sox seasons in my lifetime. Particularly watching the incredible Tim Wakefield emergence that summer.

Just bad luck, I guess. Who could have imagined this?

    Offseason Rumors/News

Jerami Grant is Harvey Grant's kid? I had no idea. I also have no idea how good Bronny is, but I do know that if I ran a recruiting service or did anything else in the sphere of basketball, I would probably be hesitant to get on Lebron's bad side.

    Patriots Training Camp 2022

I thought McGrone looked really promising, flying around the field. Then I read Bedard's writeup and he trashed McGrone for being slower after his injury, etc. On the one hand, I saw what I saw. On the other, I had several bourbon and cokes during the game and Bedard probably didn't.

Bloom's job is absolutely on the line next year. If a team with this this payroll finishes in last place 3 times in his first 4 seasons he should and will be gone, IMO. I don't think it's make the playoffs or else, but there must be signs of life by this time next year.

Tre Nixon seems like exactly the type of player that would reach the practice squad. How many teams out there need him on an active roster?

It's been a few years, but IIRC, studies have demonstrated that the most predictive information about whether a pitcher will go on the DL this year is whether they went on the DL in previous years. In fact, here you go...

Every single pitcher is susceptible to injury. Not every pitcher is as likely to miss time as Chris Sale or Michael Wacha or 42-year-old Rich Hill. I don't know how you can argue that it's all just random.

    Red Sox in season discussion

How could anyone blame bad luck for injuries that steal big chunks of the season from a rotation featuring Chris Sale, Eovaldi, Rich Hill, and Michael Wacha? (Not saying that you are doing that - just responding to the notion that someone out there might think the Red Sox had bad luck with the...

They came into the season projected to win 85-86 games. Can a team like that technically get into the playoffs and then get hot? Sure. But should you expect a team like that to contend for a title?

They looked good for a month, playing, what, 4 series against the three worst teams in the league during that stretch? To me, they don't look like a contender that was snake-bitten by injuries. They look like a mediocre and flawed team that was snake-bitten by injuries and became a...

Almost half of that money spent on IL players is Chris Sale. Who should always be expected to be on that list. Anyway, in 2006 the team was good save for the injuries, as evidenced by that August 16 record cited above. When were the 2022 Red Sox good?

I wouldn't consider moving any of the WRs. So far things have looked good, but there are plenty of questions in that room and they need improvement from the receivers if the team is taking a step forward this year.
