Why does Safari think I live in Houston?

Yeah, same problem in Chrome. I also tried the location reset and the problem is persisting. I'm taking it up now with my wi-fi provider, which seems to be the likely culprit.

Why does Safari think I live in Houston?

I checked this out but there’s nothing wonky with location permissions. It looks like Safari is determining my location from the Wi-Fi IP address though, not from my GPS location. Weirdly I don’t get suggestions that I’m in Fargo when I’m just on a cell signal.

Why does Safari think I live in Houston?

Houston when I’m on Wi-Fi, Fargo ND when I’m on a cell signal. Which is also weird.

Why does Safari think I live in Houston?

They’re on. I think that has something to do with my home Wi-Fi (ATT fiber) but I can’t figure out how to fix it.

Why does Safari think I live in Houston?

I live in North Carolina and have for years. Whenever I enter a search string on my iPhone browser, the autocomplete results always start with Houston. I get the same thing on websites with any location tracking; Home Depot as an example always thinks I want to see stock at Houston stores. I’ve...

    Jerry Remy Has Passed Away

Awful. He was the voice of my college years and 20s when I was watching every game, and incredibly kind when I met him in person. Shit.

    Alert for power outage

Is B phase dropping a utility issue or an issue with your own service? B is typically the hottest bus due to its location; if you have old electrical distribution gear it would be worth a call to a licensed electrical contractor to determine if you have loose connections or another issue going...

    Alert for power outage

Have you looked into a UPS? This would provide your monitoring and alert functions, as well as a backup power source. Something in this line might fit the bill (assuming the fridge is on 120V split-phase).

    Covid and MLB

Ashevillian here; it's the Tourists, not the Travelers. The team recently launched an on-field pop-up restaurant where you can sit on a (distanced) picnic table on the basepaths and have ballpark food and beer. Fairly creative idea in the current circumstances in a great setting.

    Wifi and plaster walls

Thanks all for the responses, looks like Nest is the way to go. I'll gladly take the long term brain cancer risk if it means my kids' goddamn devices work while I get my work done.

    Wifi and plaster walls

I've moved into a new house recently, ~2,000 square feet across two floors. Getting a strong wifi signal to all areas has been surprisingly difficult, and there are also a number of dead zones. I have AT&T fiber and am using their router and range extender on the main floor (opposite ends of...
