This might be it. It's close, at the very least.

    2023 Offseason MLB News/Rumors Thread

View: https://twitter.com/AP/status/1756026439181144510 I seem to recall some speculation about this on the board from years past.

I'm gonna be super honest: He stunk so bad that I completely forgot.

Recency bias, and obvious extreme circumstances, but Steve Pearce springs to mind as well.

For sure, or just misremembering, but now I'm wondering if it was game 6 or 7.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2004 ALCS Game 5 was in Boston, not NYC, yes?

How much does winning and losing affect your fandom?

I chose 4, largely because my real answer is 5. I get way too upset when they lose, especially when they lose stupid, and at a certain point I decided it wasn't good for me - certainly it wasn't good for my sleep schedule. So, I stop paying attention when they're doing poorly because it can...

How Much Does Ownership’s Level of Spending Affect Your Fandom ?

I think I'm having trouble with "affect your fandom" as a criterion. It's not going to make me less of a fan of the Sox, and it's certainly not going to make me stop rooting for them, but I'm going to spend less money on the team if I don't think it'll end up on the field. It's getting to the...

    Choosing your Favorite Child

96, but yes. The 2004 team won 98. FTR, I voted 2013. It was my first year away from the northeast, and watching the Marathon Bombing and aftermath on TV, recognizing places I used to frequent, was... not easy. That team's ridiculously improbable run was magic from start to finish.

That was my estimate before this. Now I think it might be low.

The tales this group could tell (2007 Red Sox)

Two things stand out: 1. It was a long time before I noticed Pedey in this photo. 2. Youkilis looks exactly the same.

So....who is the new GM/head of baseball ops?

I'm inclined to agree with this, but there's another question, which is "If you don't promote your extremely successful employees, how long before they go work for someone else?" It's fair to ask how much that kind of boogeyman should figure into a role as important as this one, though.
