Congrats on finishing 26.2. I ran the half in Philly on Sunday and the wind that day was a bitch.

Are these people you like? Can you spend a day in a van with them without wanting to strangle them? If so, absolutely do it. I did Hood to Coast in 2013 and 2014 and it's the best thing I've ever done. Such an awesome experience.

Congrats rbeaud!   drleather - I think it's just a personal preference/comfort thing. I feel like I'm suffocating and overheating in sleeves, so I pretty much only run in tanks.

The annoying reality of running is that some runs are great and some are less so, and often there's no rhyme or reason. A great run doesn't mean you're a lock to BQ and a terrible run doesn't mean you should change anything up dramatically.    As for the shin pain, it's a very common overuse...

Not sure if this will be true for you, but it's the lesson I learned the hard way (vomiting and nearly blacking out during two marathons). Most distance runners are almost always in a state of dehydration. In general, it's hard to stay properly hydrated when you're running such high mileage...

I can relate; I often struggle with trying to force myself to run a slower pace. But if you try to run your "natural pace" for an entire 26.2 miles, odds are pretty good that you will really regret it around mile 20. I started out slower than I wanted in my first marathon, and through 15, I...

Replying to two different posts, but I'm impressed and kind of amazed that you ran a 4:15 with less than average training. I could never ever do that.    I've had Achilles issues for years. You need to loosen up your calves, so foam rolling them will absolutely help. Ice both your calves after...

Yes. All of this. Personally, I still think you are in for a very long day. I just don't think this is enough training this late in the game. But if you can't manage 4 runs per week, you're much better off deferring to 2016. I know deferral is an expensive option, but running a long race for...

If you're looking for some additional motivation, you might think about joining the SoSh group on Strava or DailyMile. It's a very supportive group (though most have moved over to Strava at this point) and I find that it really helps to hold me accountable to get my miles in when I might...

SydneySox, you ran a 1:47 in your first ever half marathon? That is beyond impressive. Seriously. No disappointment allowed.    And congrats on the 1:40 fiskful!

Congratulations! You're done with the hardest part, so that is certainly worth celebrating.    Definitely register for a race. Crossing a finish line is the best feeling and will absolutely keep you motivated.

Are your toes going numb or your entire foot? It is just the pad of your foot or from the ankle down?

That's a great time, especially for your first 5K in 10 years. Congrats! If you didn't catch the running bug when you crossed that finish line, you never will.

Joe and Kate - Enjoy every second of your run on Monday. I know it means something special for both of you for different reasons. I'm so excited for both of you. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I mean, I don't disagree with this. But when I say that increasing distance is one way to get faster, I don't mean that runners should exclusively run long and slow and hope to race much faster. I've run faster half marathons since I started marathon training in 2010 and one of the reasons is...

Three things: 1. Congrats to all who have finished and/or PR'd races recently. I get so caught up in Daily Mile that I forget to check this thread. 2. I disagree with the notion that increasing your distance won't help you get faster. In fact, the opposite is true. There isn't just one way to...

Anyone ever run the Cape Cod Half Marathon in late October? I'll be in town for a wedding and am contemplating running it.
