2023 Jets: Hello Darkness Retreat, My Old Friend

The Jets' offensive line was amazing, their running game was solid, and also at least the rookie year (but maybe his first two, I don't exactly recall) Sanchez had a flukish number of dropped interceptions in a very limited number of passing attempts. I think the game was sufficiently...

2023 Jets: Hello Darkness Retreat, My Old Friend

I said simple not easy. I'm also not convinced that there's any particular skill, as opposed to pure luck, in figuring out that Mahomes is the guy and Trubinsky isn't--lots of teams looked at Allen or Mahomes and passed on them. And i'd dispute the idea that you can create an above average...

2023 Jets: Hello Darkness Retreat, My Old Friend

Honestly good offense is simple to build. Get a really good quarterback and a not bad offensive coordinator. The rest basically takes care of itself. Building a good offense without a really good quarterback, or buldiing a good defense, are basically as hard as each other in my book.

    The Bill Simmons Thread

not to paraphrase Simmons to much but there is a secret to his success. Even though a lot of his takes are stupid it’s fun to hear him talk about sports!

2023 Dolphins: Greatest Show on Surf

Not me! Tua is playing great the dolphins offense is great and the only question is how long can they keep this up!

2023 Dolphins: Greatest Show on Surf

You’re a dolphins fan you should be massively pro nerd right now with your terrific coach who probably does play dungeons and dragons on the side

    2023 San Francisco 49ers.

Opinion vary a bit on McGlinchey. He's giant and a high draft pick so folks tend to think very highly of him by reputation, but some observers (and in some years PFF) think he's not great. I haven't watched him enough to have a view.

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

Cassell was fine and played pretty well but let's not understate the fact that (excluding pre-season) he only threw a combined 72 passes in his seven years in college and the pros and his only starting experience was at Chatworth High School.

    Game 2 Mia, goats

Not sure using a first on a running back is a great move for this team at this time. Watson has talent and is a real NFl player but I don't think he's a great fit for the Pats.

    Game 2 Mia, goats

So just in terms of tactics iIts not like there was (other than breese hall) a weapon drafted between strange and Thornton whom you’d really want to have picked; there wasn’t great offensive skill talent in the early second. What kills you is a Thornton was bad and right after him Pierce seems...

    Game 2 Mia, goats

It’s cool @SMU_Sox I can tell I was there in spirit. I dont subscribe to the belief that BB is bad at picking receivers-he’s pretty great at picking them in lower rounds-but I do think his standards are either a little high or his drafting doesn’t respect the positional value. (When he does...

    Game 2 Mia, goats

receivers are very valuable, if you include tight ends they're playing ballpark 36 percent of your offensive snaps/18 percent of your offensive and defensive snaps, so, ballpark figures I think you'd like to see one drafted in the top two rounds every two years (25 percent or more of your two...

Pats Round1 Pick #17: CB Christian "The Steal" Gonzalez

His problem is that he's just trying to be a contrarian on every point. So when you're trying to say BB sucks because he uses too much draft and free agent capital on defense and not enough on offense kind of falls apart when you have a rookie corner playing like a number one corner so he tries...

Pats Round1 Pick #17: CB Christian "The Steal" Gonzalez

He's a magnificent athlete. I think he's going to have a ton of picks this year and then never again in his career because people are going to get really tired of throwing his way.

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

I'm a stanford football fan--go ACC baby--and while Williams obviously obliterated our guys there were a lot of times when he was running around and our 5.4 40 yard dash defensive line guys _almost_ got him. that's not going to work against the jets defensive line.

Pats Round1 Pick #17: CB Christian "The Steal" Gonzalez

Bedard tried! He said that Gonz played the pick wrong, had his hips wrong, and if there was a good pass it would have been an easy touchdown.

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

I'm not sure this year clarifies things unless he starts playing much better or much worse. If he plays the next 15 games like he did the last two and has, what does it work out to, 34 to 17 td to picks, 4500 yards, on this board we'll still be basically split were we are now. Like, I'd give...

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

I agree-I think basically the smartest play is to be in purgatory and in those years when you do see a guy who you love, go up and get them. Like keep Mac on the team with a series of shoter term contracts and hope that you're right on your assessment of the next mahomes/allen who slides from...
