Speaking of fights of the year, I watched the Matthysse/Molina 2014 replay the other night. What a damn fight that was.

The primetime expansion is the greatest thing to happen to the sport, IMVHO, in a long while.  That in conjunction with stars on the rise like GGG (who I love to watch fight) being promoted up the arse, is correlationally fantastic.  It's the first true sign of potential expansion to break the...

I contribute to the thread occassionaly, and read it religiously.  Have forever.  I'm a diehard fan of the sport.  Can we please do a little homework before spouting off such a condescending inane request?   My post was a leveled as possible considering.  I hope I'm terribly wrong first and...

And this is why boxing is being held back from potentially huge expansion in popularity IMVHO. Aside from (beyond) despicable judging from time to time, the absolute control allowed for with fighters on the promotional side, to avoid other fighters and pick and choose as they please, makes for...

I had Matthysse-Provodnikov at 115-113.  I can see where one had a draw.  It was one of those fights that looked more one-sided than the scorecards flesh out, but I think they got it right.   The one round where I can see the potential draw coming from was Round 8.  Some had it for Provodnikov...

    The bigger unspoken scandal?

Rev, Yahoo Sports is now putting it out there without much in the way of corroboration.  More and more smoke starting to build.  First Glazer, then Ed Werder tweets the same thoughts, then Florio finds the info about the balls being completely different in PSI than Mortensen's report suggested...

If the explanation is that Floyd and his camp did not take kindly to Arum's recent strong words directed at Floyd, then color me stunned. The fighter who made his entire career out of trash-talking opponents and other fighters on a level not seen before in the sport (and that speaks volumes...

2013 Jets: Rex back for 2014

As a Patriots fan, I'm with Sean here.  I know I would be the pissed one were Mark Sanchez to be signed by the Patriots personally.

As an unabashed 'Manny Camp' member, I can honestly say that if Floyd finishes off these next two opponents convincingly, that there is no doubt he will go down as arguably (I would argue the best) PFP to ever tape up the gloves. To see him continue to beat younger, hungrier fighters at the top...

2013 Jets: Rex back for 2014

I just wanted to say the updated thread title is fantastic.

While I agree on the quality of the fight, they are now teetering on the brink of parody. Not sure I'm even excited about it in the least, to be honest.

The key difference being that Lederman actually seems willing to include sabremetric compubox statistics to what his eyeballs saw to form a more complete picture, whereas the other elder scrolls were said to have ignored them entirely. That's when you can discount one and not the other. It's...

Good luck to Mr. Bradley. He may be the paper champion, but he's gonna have a seriously rough go of ever trying to be the people's.

This is EXACTLY why boxing is tuned out by so many casual fans nowadays. It's so frustrating, since I love this sport, but just wow. Once again, we'll probably see 2 or even all 3 judges suspended temporarily, but the horrible results will remain. So much for the superfight.

No shit. Even giving Bradley a questionable wash round I had it 117-111. What in the fuck. This compounds an atrocious last 12 months of decisions.

Broner looked like a rising star with more power at his stage than I have seen before. He hits like a damn train. Definitely interested in seeing him in more quality fights. Agree on Alexander as well.

For clarification, I was posting what I read from Rafael, Mulvaney and others' feeds. The reports said three seconds into the 10th. I was not trying to post in a tone alluding to my having seen it. Just to be clear. Can't wait to break this one down after seeing it though.

Cotto takes it by TKO merely seconds into the 10th. It appeared as though he absolutely dominated the fight from start to finish, with Marg only being even somewhat competitive for two brief spots in the 4th and 5th. Marg's right eye was swollen completely shut from early on. MSG is a madhouse...
