The first Tacko to Edwards alley oop will be spectacular. No one will see it coming.

And then they can all go give Pat Riley a big hug when it's over.

(I think C's will play hard and get waxed. Spoelstra saw Tacko. He'll deal with him better. I hope I'm wrong)

I am curious to see what Boston’s starting line up will be. I’m assuming it will include Smart and Theis but I’m not sure who else. I don’t expect Boston to win tonight but I do hope the game is entertaining and I am interested to see how the short rotation mostly end of the roster team performs.

Good job by Danny to drafting a 22 year old Steve Nash this year, we're going to need him today.

Can someone explain to me how COVID protocols are anything but binary? How are some listed as Questionable (Brown, Ojelye, Green) and others listed as Doubtful (Tatum) then others are listed as Out (TT, GW, RW)?
Maybe it has to do with the confirmatory test situation?

RW is a definite positive, so his close contacts are definitely out.

Last I heard Tatum was presumptive positive but waiting confirmation, as of yesterday? So I guess that makes him doubtful? Not sure why close contacts wouldn't be the same though, if Tatum is a definite positive I assume they definitely are out.

Maybe they can appeal the close contact designation or explain why it might be incorrect. It's all confusing for sure.

This would be a really handy game for Theis not to pick up quick fouls.
This will be Smart but he'll shoot 25% and the team will lose by 20.
Hey, if Marcus is going to jack threes, at least it'll be less stressful when there's no all-star caliber guy who could have been taking them instead.

2 guys over 6'5", 3 over 6'3", this might be the shortest team in the NBA since like the 50s.

That's obviously great news for the Celtics, even though I was curious to see the game.

This is going to be a major problem over the next month given how extensive the spread is right now everywhere.

Bubble time......

Damn. Probably a good thing to avoid the inevitable blowout, though I really wanted to see how it would unfold.

Maybe time for Silver to give the Pfizer or Moderna CEO a call.

so the Heat are even more banged up / COVID tracing related absences than us, am I reading that right?

Didn't they already say they wouldn't accept the vaccine until it would normally be their turn? To get the players and main coaches vaccinated we're looking at maybe 20x30x2 doses, about 1200 total. Maybe throw in the refs too.

GIven how many people are dying every day the optics on that aren't going to look very good. Basically going to end up with some extra middle age/senior citizens deaths to save the NBA season.

The extra testing they could claim they were funding and coming up with on their own. But at this point the vaccines doses are limited.

I hear you. I thought I read that the NHL was buying up vaccines and wondered if the NBA would do the same but that might be old news.

To me, the NBA is an essential service. vaccinate these players with the vaccines other essential workers refuse to take.

Maybe they can do some public service announcements and community education to increase vaccine compliance in exchange for a couple thousand doses :)

A win-win.

Agree 100%. Not as black and white essential as nurses and doctors for example, but professional sports play an essential role in our society IMO.
