The officiating in the NBA makes other leagues look like they have good officiating. These guys are drunk with power and it will start costing the league money.

Apropos: Good piece in The Athletic today with a retired referee calling out the current younger ones as too thin-skinned.

I empathize to an extent. It’s a tough job flying up and down the court and seeing everything. But 1. Tatum is a star and he deserves attention and a bit of deference and 2. There should be some mitigation for egregious missed fouls.

Way to sour the crowd tho on a great night

They've literally had a high profile ref still in the league for 15+ years after he was likely was involved in fixing games still reffing the biggest games every year. If it hasn't cost the league anything yet why any time soon?

That felt like one of the most efficient nights of offense of the season. I wasn't too impressed on D in the first half but it didn't matter.

I mean, MLB has the same issue. They’ve got a high profile ump who everyone pretty much acknowledges gets calls wrong on purpose, just to bait guys. And they’ve also got Laz Diaz.

Nice W. That T-Wolves game was probably the best of the season, but after some nail-biters and losses, I needed one like this.

Wow I just rewatched that sequence when Tatum got ejected. That was an egregious missed call. Tatum was completely right to tell the refs to fuck right the hell off.

The funny thing is he is one of the best refs in the league probably, or at least one who best understands game flow and can take a side-eyed glance from a player* without throwing a hissy fit.

CP3 drama excluded of course.

That’s pretty cool. I assumed he was shooting a movie.

Ime did a heck of a job with that Rockets defense tonight

It was clear to me that the Jays wanted to put it on Ime tonight, and they did. 59 points on 32 shots for the Jays, and they missed six out of 17 FTs.
