I’ve never understood why they don’t just skate up and fire their best shot more often. The dekes never work.

One impression from tonight: the Bruins have more speed than last year but can’t figure out how to use it yet.

Nice to get the win. Overall body of work tonight was solid, just need better finish. Can't be giving away points to the Devils in this short season. Also, maybe that gets the shootout monkey off their back. Marchand had been on a particularly dreadful run. I think he was like 0-8 last season or something like that. Might've been in double digits going back a few years.

I thought Zboril looked really good tonight. Lauzon had a couple of moments but he was also playing 1st pair so that’s expected. Overall nice game.

I really like Kase. I have a feeling when they start going in for him he’ll get a bunch in a short time.

Frederic doesn’t want to sit when Smith comes back. He played a great bottom six forechecking game.

It sucks that the flukiest goal that I’ve seen outside a men’s league in a long time put a damper on an otherwise great game from McAvoy. He looked great tonight. More physical edge to his game tonight then there’s been previously.

I like the win, and thought an important takeaway was that the kids look like they belong, at least in small doses. I don't know if Studnicka sticks once Pasta is back, as he doesn't really seem like a 4th line player, but he held his own next to Bergy and Marchand. Frederic looks like a solid player on the 3rd line if Smith happens to be out a bit, but I feel like he could earn minutes on the 2nd line as well. Kase and the 2nd line are still snakebit and I thought DeBrusk was, unfortunately, the most underwhelming player among the forwards.

I thought the D played about as well as we could have hoped, all things considered. Good to see Miller back and apparently healthy, Carlo looks enormous, and McAvoy has pretty clearly been working out this offseason, he look strong. The kids were up and down, but overall I thought they handled opening night well.

Tuukka was on point.
