And of course, they had nothing 5v5. The middle 6 is pretty invisible right now, and those two will combine for an early spring vacation if not resolved.

At least they’re winning during all of it.

It’s an issue, but they know it’s an issue and it should right itself. Thankfully they keep piling up points in the meantime.

Secondary scoring is going to be a theme all
year as it has been for the last 3-4 seasons. They’re just going to have to work through it, and fortunately they’ve piled up points so far.

The second line is useless without Krejci. I love DeBrusk but he needs to play with a C that can get him the puck, he doesn’t strike me as someone who can carry a line. Kuhlman is fun to watch, and I really like his game, but ultimately can’t finish and shouldn’t be in the top 6. Guys with no history of scoring at any level typically don’t suddenly become bonafide top 6 scorers in the NHL. Krejci missed most of camp and thus was catching up to everyone else and rusty out of the gate but they seemed to be headed in the right direction through the NJ game before he got hurt again. Hopefully he is back soon and they start gaining traction again. I think Coyle and Heinen have been been fine, particularly Coyle, but Ritchie hasn’t been good. The 4th line is fine.

I’m sure they’ll be quick to bring Bjork up relatively soon to see if he can help. By all accounts he’s been Providence’s best forward. Providence is in the middle of a road trip. They play tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday before returning home. There are some cap/roster things to sort out as they are at a full 23 man roster and into LTIR. They’d need to IR or waive someone or demote Kuhlman/Clifton to free up a roster spot, but I think he could come up after they return. The Bruins have the Leafs on Saturday and Tuesday then 3 days off before STL next Saturday so the schedules seem to lineup for a recall.

I actually liked what Ritchie was bringing to the table last night, but h sure didn’t look like he was going to put anything past Vassy.
