Cora has never lost consecutive games in the postseason. Flush last night, stay patient at the plate, and punish the mistakes this time.

Quick turnaround just like the other ALCS loss - 5:08pm first pitch.

To be fair, he never lost more than one in a series before tonight, so let’s hope the ship gets right.

Wear the home whites and get this thing back to Houston up 3-2. That's all I got for now.

I was hoping this game wouldn't be so pivotal as it now is. I have a thing and can't watch more than an inning before I have to get to it.
I hope all I miss is the Sox taking back control of the series instead of being pushed to the brink of defeat.

Sale, Houck and Robles are a good bet to cover the pitching in game 5. 2 out of 3 in Boston is a good showing. Then 1 out of 2 in Houston, as in the first two games of the ALCS.

This game is kinda important. The Red Sox should try to win it.

Sale: 3.0 ip, 5 h, 1 r, 1 er, 2 bb, 5 k
Houck: 3.0 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 0 er, 1 bb, 5 k
Taylor/Ottavino: 1.0 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 er, 1 bb, 1 k
Brasier: 1.0 ip, 2 h, 1 r, 1 er, 0 bb, 1 k
Robles: 1.0 ip, 1 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 1 k

Sox pitchers allow 3 runs on 11 hits, somehow escaping in various innings with no or minimal damage. High wire act all night long.

Boston's bats push across 4 runs. Sox are up 4-1 heading into the 8th, and Houston scores one in the 8th and one in the 9th to have us all reaching for our TUMS. Or our shot glasses. Or both.

Sox hold on to win and take it back to Houston up 3-2 with Eovaldi going in game 6 after a day off.

I really like this team.
I really like a lot of hits and runs from this team.
I really like winning.
I really like an electric Fenway Park.

This team got to today because of its offense...show up and lay the smackdown!
Get back on the winning side today!
LFG!

It's a great day to win a baseball game.

I wish I trusted Sale but I'd have Houck mentally ready to get warm and ready in the first inning.

Sale has been a problem. Can't expect much. It's also tough to keep throwing these young kids out there in these high pressure spots and think they won't crack at some point. It's going to be a challenge today.

Most of us have said if the Red Sox are going to make a World Series run, then they are going to need Sale to come up big at some point.

Well that day has come. They need him to come up big today.

We don't need a two game winning streak. We need two one game winning streaks. It starts this afternoon.

Welcome to the American League Championship Seieres - Game Five. Population: YOU!

Except for you Laz Diaz. You can eat a bowl of dicks.

I don't mean this as a personal shot, but if Sale gives up seven baserunners in 3IP I think we're looking at some big trouble

I'm going to get this out of the way - I don't think Sale has ever been fully healthy in the postseason. And the one time he maybe was ,the trash cans were banging.

Sale could get no outs today and I wouldn't blame him.

This series has a 7 game feel to it. Not sure who wins tonight but I have a feeling that it really won't matter because the loser is going to win game 6.

Stupid view, I know. I just see these teams as a coin flip and while a coin obviously can come up with the same side twice in a row and does 25 percent of the time, everything about this series is calling out game 7.

Edit -- or I guess I should say that I know that the team that wins game 5 if teams are evenly matched should win game 6 50 percent of the time. Just saying. Game 7. So, don't stress about tonight. Won't matter. It's only a game.

Keep the same approach at the plate. Red Sox walked 7 times yesterday and that's usually going to be really bad news for the opposing team....just don't miss all those fat cookies again like last night. The approach was good, but the execution on hittable pitches was not there like in the previous couple games.

This is like the ideal Tier 2 scenario, with Tier 1 being the early Sox blowout.

Should be Jim Wolf - per Ump Scorecards he's the 15th most accurate ump 94.5% and 7th most consistent 97.1% - so should be a pretty clean night back there.

edit- games since August:
No, I think it's Dan Iassogna, if this link is to be believed:
https://www.closecallsports.com/2021/10/2021-al-nl-championship-series-umpire.html

They have a 7 ump rotation, so Wolf gets a day off, then the plate. Iassogna was off last night, he gets the plate today.

It's not terrible news, he's top 30 accuracy and top 25 consistency. Wolf's numbers are only slightly better. Anyway, no more unqualified shitheads for a couple days.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Vaz has looked more checked in recently, but perhaps it's time for Sale to throw to someone else.

Also, if Cora isn't going to use Santana/Dalbec/Darwinzon. . .I'm not sure why a pitcher with a potentially higher upside like Barnes or Richards didn't make the cut.
