This is the other reason teams are so hesitant to pitch guys on three days rest, the main one being that they are almost always pretty bad at it but the second is that they get hurt, pretty sure that's the same thing that happened to David Wells in the 2003 WS after the heavyweight fight in the ALCS and I think cost them that series.

Yeah, checking the Wells thing, my memory is correct. He pitched game 5 of the ALCS (7 innings, 103 pitches) and then game 7 left NY so depleted with pitching that they started Wells on 3 days rest in game 1 (also he threw 6 pitches in relief in game 7 in between). He was impressive in game 1 of the WS, 7 6 3 3 2 1, but then coming back on normal rest for game 5 in a 2-2 series, he had to abruptly leave after one inning. NY lost that game 6-4 and then Josh Beckett beat them singlehandedly in game 6 but I thought (a first guess, not a second guess) they should have used Jose Contreras out of the pen in game 1 and reset the rotation after that.

Awesome, Wandy hurt now.

Wandy takes a 106 mph grounder off the glove hand. This might be a mercy killing by ending it tonight.

Once in a while one team dominates another so much that they have to research a new stat for it. The season series here is 8-2 HOU and the only time NY led in any of the seven regular season games was when they were over, both home walkoff wins.

So the nevr before seen stat is something like 'total team batters faced while leading' and coming into this game it was something like HOU 450 to 7 (not exaggerating). NY added a few early tonight but already behind in the 3rd.

It's the right choice but NY is currently burning one of their only two reliable relievers (Loaisiga) in the 3rd, 20 pitches and counting after 3.

We've all heard the term 'Heart of a Champion', the Yankees have the rarely seen 'Heart of a Team Who Have Hit Their Ceiling for This Season'.

Oh and now is when McCullers magically becomes unhittable. Yankee fans are still so traumatized by his appearance in game 7 of the 2017 ALCS that I didn't realize he wasn't part of the 2019 series.

One rookie SS with a game-tying three run HR, one with pom-poms in the dugout.

It's only the third inning, too. Are there any starters who might be able to go an inning or two?
They will presumably try German and/or Montas, Schmidt too maybe. They are very bad at knowing how to use their own staff, though.

Wandy is such a bad-ass, again Cashman got him for the remnants of Mike Tauchman.

I had Bader leading off 2-3 games before NY did, how come I can figure that out sitting on my couch and NY can't?

I like Brian Anderson but...

Baseball is a game where formulas refuse to apply? Excuse me. If there's any sport where formulas have merit, it's this, cricket, and golf because of the individual nature of for MLB's case, the specific one on one nature of batter vs. pitcher. Statements like this make for a less intelligent understanding and at-large discourse of this game.

Wandy a warrior with 40 big pitches there, even after getting plunked.

There's some BABIP luck!

Loaisiga's high pitch count for the year is 34, would not be surprised to see 45-50 here if he keeps going well.

Or that Peraza guy is available and IKF to 3B, as EE suggested a few games back.
Yes, I still think so. I know they're hoping for a little power when they keep sending him out. But it isn't there. I'll take a better chance at contact against this pitching.

Of all the players to get hot and carry the offense, such as it is, Bader probably wouldn't be in my top three five. So glad to see it.

I'm not sure why I'm still up watching this but the Yankees are the last representative of the AL East and Houston is so loathsome. Conflicted.
I hear you ……. But it is the Yankees and I love the Red Sox no matter how bad they are. So for me. Go Houston.

So who fucked that up? IKF? Gleyber? Both?

I see the error was given to Gleyber, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
