Terrible OT.

Bad idea not to run offensive sets for Tatum in the second half.

We miss Rob.

Cavs are legit.

Timelord’s absence sorely felt in this one. That plus Cavs are for real now.

Edit: also the other Williams.

The Cavs are the two bigs plus a lot of scoring and some D. They are essentially last year's peak Cs with more bucket getters

What I don’t get is they played good defense without timelord in the playoffs last year: Now, they can’t stop a damn thing. I agree they miss him, but I think it goes a bit beyond that.

Peak Cs were about as defensively elite as it gets, maybe let’s not crown them 5 games in.
Heard.

Its game five. I am ok if Mazzulla plays Kornet down the stretch more if he thinks the run will help down the road. They need to figure out what they have and what they need in the playoffs. Its best if they have something in house however unlikely.

Can’t have 15 shots from Smart on a night JT/JB both shoot over 50%. Or any night really. Sorry, guy sucks at shooting. Love him but if he’s not using his bulk to score in the paint I’d just rather not with this kind of game.

Here
The perimeter D is a serious issue right now, which is a bit of a mystery. These guys need to step the intensity.

Getting their cheeks clapped on the boards isn't helping at all. Huge play down the stretch where they gave up two offensive boards and the eventual bucket and then the putrid play where Al missed the rebound, whined to the ref mid-play and gave up the wide open three.

It’s a thin line between excelling and failing. Need to stay aggressive on the perimeter, switch and recover fast, etc.

We saw this kind of struggle at their worst last year when they forget that guys are good shooters if you don’t actually challenge them.

But it’s barely any games. We’ll see, far from time to worry when we already know a big part of the reason it’s looking a bit rough.

Brad is going to need to do something. Vonleh and Kornet just isn't going to cut it.
Yeah, I am going to keep beating this drum too. It’s jarring to look at a box score and see Kornet with 26 mins while Pritchard has 0.
Pritchard and a 2nd should get you a big who is a good deal better than Kornet

The one consolation is I get to laugh at the Nets again for trading LaVert and others for Harden, whom they eventually traded down for a broken Ben Simmons. Lol

where I was last at
Mitchell and Lavert put on an Elgin and Jerry offensive display and fucking torched the Celts.
I was curious and put the Google machine to work this AM and according to my QnD search found that teammates scoring 40 or more points in the same game has happened about 15+ times in NBA history, including twice by Jerry and Elgin. (nice guess bankshot)

Last night was the 2nd time it happened to the Celts, the first being when the Sun's Paul Westphal (43) and Walter Davis (40) totaled 83 points against the Celtics on January 5, 1978.

I'm just baffled as to where Tatum went in the 4th quarter. I guess the doubling worked, but that usually backfires on teams now.

30 after three, and then ... 2 points?

Credit to Levert but that’s a bad loss

it’s a good team but not putting them away sucks

Yep. I was embarrassed by the invective string of curses my daughter overheard me say when the Celtics failed to get a good look on the last shot of the game.

It’s early in the season and the loss means little. The dream of an 80 win season is still alive.
