How? All the dude had to do is what my 8 year old could do - don’t take the sack and throw it to Uganda and take the grounding call if he has to. All he had to do was to do what he did not do. He picked the worst possible outcome.
It was awful but I think grounding ends the half.

I don't get why they didn't rush to spike it after that play and keep the timeout in exchange for 8-10 seconds
Because they had two left, so using one then didn't matter.

Wait....

Harris looks pretty decent to me just from a physical standpoint. Missed a couple bounces outside but has no game time to speak of under his belt so it’s not a shock.

The frustration I feel reminds of that Pats comeback years ago when Hugh Millen tried to run it in as the game was ending and got sacked against the Broncos. I think the herald headline the next day was "A Hughmiliating Defeat"

I’m trying to think of another analogy that would allow me to describe Hoyer, but anything I am thinking of would probably have the FBI at my doorstep in 18 minutes.

Watching Harris play pretty much like Sony is a telling statement about the football knowledge on this board. With the exception of about two guys in the league at any point running backs look good with good blocking and bad without it.
Yes, and I am no big Sony fan.

I think calling the third time out was the problem. Just get up to the line and run your play.
Agreed. Didn’t like the quick succession of timeouts. There were no time-consuming plays preceding them. Ultimately, though, Hoyer has to be more aware. But hey, Brady did something similar not too long ago against Miami I think.

I remember that game! They lost because he couldn't make the signal, right? Did some half-ass signal way too late, IIRC??
Only one designated player could call a timeout. Grogan was the guy, and he was on queer street after getting hammered.

How many reps did the admittedly much better pedigreed Herbert get before getting tossed into his first game and doing pretty decently against KC?
Probably the difference between 2nd string and 3rd string.
Regardless, I can't guess any better than McD.

Grounding would have been a runoff guys. Half would have ended anyway.

Edit: play was awful. But coaching staff put them in a bad position.
This is where I am. And...it’s what can happen when you have two days to prepare a QB fly the day of a game. They should’ve left him another TO.

Sorry Romo you're wrong. If one camera clearly shows he didn't touch it that's all it takes.

why do they thing Sterratore adds to the broadcast? He's the only thing that sucks as much as Hoyer
