Villa/Burnley, ManU/BHA, Southampton/Bradford, West Ham/Norwich games today all postponed, which leaves only Leeds/Arsenal today (for now anyway).

Tomorrow's matches:
Everton/Leicester postponed, but Newcastle/City, Wolves/Chelsea, Spurs/Liverpool still on.

Some rest for teams heading into the overly congested holiday schedule, but we may be seeing team depth tested very shortly.

They need to shut it down. When so many fixtures are postponed on such short notice it threatens by the integrity of the competition, health of the players and fans, travel plans etc.

If we aren’t there yet I have no idea what it will take. The actual Covid death of a player?

I don’t know if it’s been established but Agueros heart issues overlapped with his COVID

Ben Godfrey also had a bad case, hes been a shell of himself

whatever Bundesliga and Serie A are doing, they don't seem to be as affected as EPL. Did the Project Restart and last season's protocols not carry over?

edit: Tammy Abraham scores a second against Atalanta. Roma up 4-1

Xhaka not only still on the pitch after this, but not even booked.

Gelhardt's challenge on Tomiyasu a minute later drew a booking.

That was terribly inconsistent and definitely a booking on Xhaka, butI hate when that kind of foul draws red. He gets the ball and contacts the ankle on the follow through. Its more awkward than reckless.

He is a dumbass for laughing about it afterward though.

A dumbass in general really.

Xhaka's got a tendency to really load up on his high challenges - in this one you can see him kind of hop with both feet, and using his plant foot for leverage, drive his studs into Raphinha's ankle. I'm surprised Oliver didn't call Marriner over to the monitor at least - to me, it warranted a red (especially given this is not Xhaka's first disciplinary rodeo) but agreed it's not one of the more cut-and-dry reds / should've been a yellow at very least.

It has been a while since Xhaka has seen a red card, perhaps he is due (I know, he recently returned from injury)

anyhow, 2 hours of studio show on NBCSN tomorrow morning to recap today's match and preview's tomorrow's 3....lots of time for ads (and rerunning old interviews)

Could be difficult for Liverpool today. Conte has had some time to organize Spurs but their identity isn’t set. He’s a world class manager and can design some wicked schemes. Liverpool are a known quantity. I don’t feel great about it, especially with the Covid absences.

That said, Konate is looking awesome. Nice to see him running out.

Howe has got Newcastle flying around like crazy. They’re flying into everything and diving everywhere trying to get people booked. Really testy match

Watching City move the ball forward from the back can be an absolute joy of the game. When Liverpool do it it feels like a knife edge, teetering run requiring precision and a measure of luck. It can be more spectacular, but it isn’t as consistent. City look like an unassailable force of nature.

What the fuck… Rebecca Lowe sounds horrific. How is she in the studio?
she really does. Give the woman a day off.

Mostly because it would be hilarious to watch Robbie & Tim try to share her role and continual step on each other’s lines.

Thiago tested positive, and the Captain was sent home with a cold (tested negative). So here come Morton!

Spurs press looks good when it’s on, but the trigger is sporadic. A few guys (Kane in particular) are jumping solo and then look confused.

Brilliant goal.

I love Peter Drury, he's so dramatic. "Remember them as they were!"

Like Tottenham are an old team on their deathbed.

Son has now wasted two 1v1s (although he was well offside on the second one). He's usually so reliable in those situations.

Jota is a great finisher. He was such a huge signing for LFC, gave them totally something different than what they had.
