OK, I know I'm growing dumber by the day, but why can't I just put my old f'ing songs on my new f'ing phone?

All my songs are "greyed out". So much for user-friendliness and user-empowerment.

Big Thumbs Down.
Can you provide any details like what computer, what phone and what version of iTunes?

You sound like an old man yelling at a cloud. We need some actual information to help.

I finally moved off of iTunes a few months ago due to bloat and this worry, which I think is similar to the one described here

https://blog.vellumatlanta.com/2016/05/04/apple-stole-my-music-no-seriously/

I'm using the Microsoft app now, whatever it's called, and I'm on an Android phone.
This article seems to be misleading. There was a bug that Apple fixed but it's not designed to delete your computers library.

Ha -- I feel like an old man yelling at a cloud. Sorry. iPhone 6+ with iTunes 9.3.1, connecting via lightning cable to iMac, OSX 10.10.5, iTunes version 12.4.3.1

Any help you whippersnappers can offer will be most appreciated.

Are you songs on an old iPhone or are they supposed to be on your Mac's library? You can't transfer from iPhone to iPhone, they have to be in the library. Are some songs not greyed out?

When you plug in your iPhone and go to Summary in iTunes under Options do you have checked "Manually manage music and videos"?

Can you play the songs in iTunes? If so, what happens when you right click (two finger) on them and go to Show in Finder? Do they show up?

iTunes is a complete mess at this point so you're not alone! Id kill for a working version of like iTunes 4.
