Far more controversial to call that no goal when, by any angle 99.99% of the puck is over the line and by the direct 90 degree angle overhead, it's totally in. Homecooking.

And after beating Montreal and Pittsburgh or Washington last month, they reeled off 8 losses to markedly lesser teams. Their record against the Canes, Islanders, Panthers, etc. is pretty damning.
4-1-1 against those 3 teams. 8-1-1 if we include Buffalo.
They lost to the Avs on the back end of a back-to-back and 3-in-4 stretch.
Edit: In total they are 12-3-1 against the teams below them in the East. Not sure I buy the play down to opponent narrative. 2 of the losses ar to Toronto.

Now 6-1 power play advantage for New Jersey. Meanwhile Pastrnak was leading the league in fucking goals last week & can't buy a hooking call.

You're right, I typed without looking. I should have cited Ottawa, Philly, (before respectability) TorontoX2, Isles, Canes, Flames, Avalanche—many of those losses at home.
Oh, and everybody in the damn league is playing back to backs this year. This was bad. They took 15 minutes to realize the game had started yet again, were chasing the score, again, and never caught up. Seen this over and over this year. There's something critically complacent in the psyche of this team this year, and it shows in 3 out of 4 games when the other team gets the jump and the first goal of the game. So frustrating.
That is fair. Just pointing out that their record against inferior opponents has been good and I don't think they are a team that "plays down" to their opponent.
That guy was also standing up on several faceoffs at that dot and waving to the camera. It was mildly annoying because I'm apparently turning into a crotchety old man.
