The 1st half of the 2nd leg of the play off between Brentford and Bournemouth has been crazy. Bournemouth were 1-0 up from the first leg and then scored after 9 minutes from a Brentford corner. This was followed by a Brentford penalty, a Bournemouth red card (for a great rugby tackle) and lots of argy-bargy.
Even crazier as Brentford level the tie at 2-2. The intensity in this game is over the top. Having fans only intensifies it.

Bournemouth is fucked. They’re going to have to sell off a bunch of players, they’re a very small market team, and Woodgate hasn’t shown he’s got it to coach at this level so far.

Good for Brentford, they’ve done everything right over the last 5-10 years. Hopefully this is the season they can push over the finish line.

I feel somehow relieved that Wednesday won’t be the biggest club in League One next season. Sunderland beats Lincoln 2-1 but loses 2-3 on aggregate.
Lincoln plays Blackpool in the playoff final next Sunday at 10am (ESPN+)

Swansea holds off upstart Barnsley 1-1 to win 2-1 aggregate.

Swansea v Brentford in the Worlds Most Expensive Game next Saturday at 10am (espn+)

Begovic going after the Brentford goalscorer after he grabbed the ball out the net was class shithousery. He really wanted that ball back.

California. Duh.
Brentford's last time in the top tier was the first season that football resumed after WWII. They spent all but one season from 1953 to 2014 in the 3rd division or lower. What a moment for their supporters to know they'll be in the Premier League next season.

Brentford are the 50th club to make it to the Premier League since it started in 1992.

I don't think we're going to need a separate thread for it, but Köln has already scored in the second leg of the Bundesliga promotion playoff.

And while I was typing, Holstein Kiel have already tied it up.

1-1 less than 4 minutes in.

Kiel won the first game at Köln 1-0 (they are using away goals).

Not threadworthy probably--and maybe should go in Omar...but the new Amazon limited Series "When Eagles Dare" is a really enjoyable watch following Crystal Palace from administration in 2010 through their promotion season to the Premier League in 2013. Kind of like "Sunderland Til I Die", but with less failure (that was for you @Joe D Reid :). Sorry to the Sunderland fans here though - it's not like Palace is in some kind of impregnable fortress) and less fan focus, but more interviews with players/coaches/executives.

I'll definitely check that out... Brighton has a similar story (financial mismanagement, existential crisis etc), so I can certainly see past the rivalry and appreciate the story. Though if Glenn Murray features prominently I may skip ahead...

You will see a fair bit of him, but he was pretty even-handed about the whole thing. There was only a passing mention of his first stint with Brighton.

Edit: it is a little funny how it seems all Palace and Brighton fans manage to both hate and love Murray at the same time. I was trying to think of a good Red Sox-Yankees comp and originally came up with Tiant, but that doesn’t seem right. I need to think about this more.

Johnny Damon? Probly not as much love from Yankee fans though. They can have him. Although I sure did like that grand slam.

I'll certainly check this out as well, thanks for the tip. Anything that helps me understand the business side of this.

One nugget of BHAFC news, the fandom is delighted at Ben White's selection to the England squad. He had a really good year for Brighton. Can't imagine he'll be on the south coast much longer.

I thought of Damon too, but I guess overall it’s a hard analogy for us to make since we are coming from different sides of that one at least. It’s not like I have another Palace fan to help me out here!

Speaking of financial mismanagement, there was a club that was so bad off (lower league) that this reality TV show with repo men actually showed up at the offices at the stadium to collect money or repossess the club assets.

Swindon Town was the club i believe
