The Athletic had an article (behind paywall) laying out its all decade team here. The team is below. What say you BBTL:

https://theathletic.com/1403890/2019/11/26/the-2010s-nfl-all-decade-team/
Offense
QB: Brady
RB: Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch
WR: Julio Jones, AB, Megatron
TE: Gronk
Tackle: Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith
G: Zack Martin, Marshall Yanda
C: Maurkice Pouncey

Defense
Edge Rushers: Von Miller, Chandler Jones
D-Line: Aaron Donald, JJ Watt, Calais Campbell
LB: Luke Kuechly, Bobby Wagner
CB: Richard Sherman, Darrelle Revis, Patrick Peterson
S: Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor

ST
K: Justin Tucker
P: Johnny Hekker
PR: Devin Hester
KR: Cordarrelle Patterson
Special Teamer: Matthew Slater

Coach: BB

Pretty solid team, I think my only beef is I probably would have gone with Larry Fitz over Megatron, who only played half the decade (albeit at a ridiculously high level). Thought McCourtey might sneak in there at safety but hard to argue for him over Thomas or Chancellor. Old friend Chandler Jones over Khalil Mack and others is an interesting choice, but it is hard to argue against Jones' consistency throughout the decade.

Revis wasn't really good past 2014. He shouldn't be on that list.

Edit: ditto Devin Hester. Ditto Kam Chancellor.

Lynch is so overrated, he produced four high quality seasons in the decade. Frank Gore had more than that. That spot should be LeSean McCoy's, who has run for over 10,000 yards and 68 TDs in the decade,

First-team All-Pro in 2010, 2011, and 2014 though. I think Sherman and Peterson are the obvious top two, and then you're talking about guys who really only had a great half-decade: Ramsey, Peters, Gilmore, Joe Haden, Charles Tillman, Charles Woodson, etc. Chris Harris and Aqib Talib probably have the best cases of guys whose productivity spanned the bulk of the decade, but Revis was better in his prime than either.

Chancellor to me is the biggest question mark on there---done in 2017 and iffy performer his last 1.5 years wasn't he? He didn't start as a rookie, was an impact guy for six years, then played half a year more and (effectively) missed last two years of the deca.

Would prefer Weddle or McCourtey, though i do think Chancellor's peak may have been the highest and that's not a crazy way to make the list.

At least Gilmore played 8 years this decade. I would probably put Talib on the list over Revis, he has been a very good player. Obviously the decade restriction is an issue with these lists. If it was 2007-2016 Revis was maybe the best defensive player in football.

Good list.

Chancellor jumps off the page as the low man on the totem pole. He benefits greatly from playing with Sherman and Thomas, two legitimate HOF level players. I think it’s by far the most glaring mistake the voters made.

I love Fletcher Cox, but it’s hard to argue with those interior DL choices. Campbell has been a monster, and his 2017 campaign for JAX stands out on his resume.

Lynch over Gore is a tough one, if very arguable, given Gore’s consistency and better all around game.

Finally, give me Khalil Mack over Chandler Jones. Mack is a more dynamic player, and he tallied three All Pro teams (and maybe a fourth incoming) over six seasons to Jones’ one over seven seasons.

I'd agree with your call on Shady. But it's a pity that the years didn't quite line up for Matt Forte - If you add 2008-2009 to his totals, he's right there with McCoy in terms of overall production from scrimmage. One of the most underrated RBs of the 15 years for sure.

Yeah, All-Decade Teams are weird because you end up punishing some guys for being prime ages right at the turn of the decade. I'm probably inclined to combat that by elevating guys who dominated for half a decade over guys who were very good and just had the years line up right so they played 8+ seasons. Obviously in a perfect world you have guys like Gronk who are both.

In the most important play in franchise history, he didn't even get the ball.
I agree. I would give spot to Shady.

I'd also put in Cox over Campbell.

Was he ever though considered the best RB in any year? Even top 3?

He never had a peak year like Shady where he was the best RB in a season but in terms of yards from scrimmage, he had three seasons in the top three (McCoy only has one.) In fact, their career yards from scrimmage numbers are almost identical. Yards per touch are almost equal as well. Forte was really underrated.

This is so accurate. Lynch really is incredibly overrated. He should not be near an all decade team. He was literally useless for 50% of the decade. But I guess, you know, skittles and an excellent nickname count for a lot.

Not that he belongs ahead of McCoy (or necessarily Forte), but he also had perhaps the two most iconic playoff runs of all time, so impressive one even has it's own name:

Maybe it's just me, but I can't remember a single play in Shady or Forte's career. That doesn't mean everything, but it means something that everyone remembers the Beastquake, as well as the one time Seattle DIDN'T give him the ball.

Giving this more thought, if Gilmore wins DPOY this year, he's got a great case. He only made one Pro Bowl in Buffalo, but two All-Pros and a DPOY would be a pretty strong resume. He's going to wind up like Revis probably where he easily makes it on the 2015-2025 All-Decade team except nobody makes one of those.

And the 4th most yards rushing in the decade, as well as tied for the 2nd most touchdowns.

But the correct answer here was AP and Shady. Gore was consistently good, but never great. He never led the league in anything. Any category, any year.

He typically would not rate well on FO’s metrics; but I associate him and Kaep as the cogs to SF’s Harbaugh offense. I would pay money to listen to his hall of fame debate. There will be a legit argument to keeping out a guy who could finish with over 20 K yards from scrimmage.

I don't doubt that Gore will make the HOF even though his case is going to be like Don Sutton's for the Baseball HOF., consistently good but never great. At least Sutton led the league in something a few times. They have big milestone numbers in big categories. Sutton made 4 All Star teams, Gore 5 Pro Bowls. But I don't think he's top 2 in the decade.

Agreed. I just would like to witness the rhetorical of “how do you keep the #3 rusher out?” followed by voters listing a couple of volumes of reasons why. And I like Frank Gore, but he’s not an all-time great. Tough as nails though.

The HoF is very difficult to get into but I think Gore makes it. For starters, it isn't like he ran for 800 yards every season. He broke 1,000 yards nine times and came within 40 yards in two different seasons from doing it 11 times. Only Smith, Payton, Sanders and Curtis Martin have done it more than 9 times. His 2006 season he ran for 1,700 yards on 5.4 yards per carry and caught 61 passes for another 500 yards for a 49ers offense that was terrible with rookie Alex Smith leading the way. That is a great season by any standards. He went over 1,000 yards each year during the Harbuagh/Kap peak and was a key figure in that offense.

I'd say he is pretty close to Curtis Martin; Martin was maybe a little bit more productive at his peak but Gore has a little bit more longevity.

We’ve come along and way since people were trying to figure out how to get out of Gilmores contract after they lost at home 10/1/17 to Carolina. Also known as the day they lost last at home since.
