2015-2016 NCAA Football: Bowls and Playoffs

Refs are blind then.
That photo was taken a split-second before the ball actually crossed over the top of the upright - that's so misleading, it belongs in the "ESPN.com is Pathetic" thread in the Media forum. Did anyone else who actually watched the game think the ball crossed inside of the post? (It was above the upright and, if anything, slightly outside of center, and in college football - unlike the NFL - the whole ball has to be inside the plane of the upright to count, instead of merely passing above the post.)

I guess it depends who you are betting on...I mean....rooting for. If you're Indiana, you got screwed, if you're a Dukie, the officials were very astute. That photo may or may not be deceptive but I do know there was no wind and that ball's trajectory was straight with no sideways movements as it flew by the goal post area. Just sayin'.

I thought Indiana butchered the final seconds of regulation, burning a time out so that they couldn't pass over the middle to get a bit closer.

60 degrees at Yankee Stadium and a snowstorm at the Sun Bowl, a few miles from the Mexican border. Go figure.

I'm a Carolina fan who was in no way rooting for Duke. That field goal was no good.

According to a report from Price Atkinson of ESPN Greenville and later confirmed by others, Clemson’s Deon Cain, Ammon Lakip, and Jay Jay McCullough are going to be suspended from the team’s College Football Playoff/Orange Bowl matchup with Oklahoma on Thursday for a violation of team rules. The Clemson Insider reports that the three players failed drug tests:

Baylor broke the bowl rushing record by 121 yards. Previous record was Nebraska vs Florida in 96 Fiesta Bowl
Baylor also never punted in this game.

Thanks for the 96 Fiesta reminder. I loved that Nebraska team with Frazier and, IIRC, not too many pundits gave Nebraska a chance. That one TD run was phenomenal.

Ah good for TCU. Boykin and Preston Miller are suspended for Saturday's game.

He was at the Brel for curfew but left after that. And got only a $5,000 bail and 3rd degree assault for assaulting a cop and resisting arrest. WTF.

Heck of a throw by the WR on the reverse. His guy was wide open in the middle of the field, just get it into the area.

Houston 14-3

edit - Houston recovers a fumble in the red zone

Not understanding why Houston contines to run the hurry up. Their D is playing great yet they keep having one minute possessions. Slow it down, bleed the clock, get your D some rest!

It is so the Rose Bowl doesn't have to change its schedule, because ya know the Rose Bowl is far more important than the playoffs.
Seriously, screw the rose bowl.

I'm aware of the "reason" but i think we agree that it's just poor thinking. Either play all three games tomorrow or play these games after the Holy Rose Bowl.

They need to just eliminate the whole concept of uncatchable balls from the pass interference rule. It's not really used so just drop it from the rule book and move on.

They actually could do the semis and the Rose tomorrow, there's three slots. Unfortunately the Sugar signed 12 year deal with ESPN for the night slot tomorrow. and then the CFP turned down ESPN's request to move today's games to Saturday, when there's dick-all going on and most people have the day off.
It's the NCAA
CFP is run by the conferences, not the NCAA.

Disney has paid truckloads of money to make NYE a college football day much like the Sunday of a Super Bowl is NFL's holy grail.

OU will win handedly, Bama wins in a close one.

This is from last January:

ESPN expects New Year’s Eve to be a drag on next year’s numbers, with Sports Business Journal reporting Monday that the network is privately “prepared for double-digit drops in viewership.” According to the report, the network is lobbying College Football Playoff officials to move next year’s semifinals to Jan. 2. The concern over lower ratings is not unfounded; this past season, the three New Year’s Eve bowl games each earned their lowest rating in several years.

If you usually go out on NYE, this schedule is not good. But if you're usually home, like me, this is a really nice slate of games. Instead of watching the Twilight Marathon, I'm watching the games. For 8 hours. That's pretty cool.
